First edition of Gallery Nights Palermo 2008

On Wednesday, June 11th, 2008, from 7 PM, will take place the first edition of Gallery Nights Palermo 2008, the original circuit for art lovers around more than 35 art spaces in Palermo neighborhood, organized by the art magazine Arte al Día.

As always, there will be live music and free shows, and the guests will be welcomed with a complimentary glass of Chandon champagne. There will also be a “LAN Audio Guide Tour”, available in Spanish only. Those who wish to participate in this virtual experience can get to the LAN stand at Pabellón 4 (Uriarte 1332), from 7 PM to 10 PM, and, with an ID, will be able to pick up an MP3 with the information about the galleries and exhibits chosen. This information can also be downloaded from www.artealdia.com to make the visit with your own MP3.

Among the special proposals of this event, Espacio Filadelfia/ESEADE will organize a comference called "Why Duchamp?", by Mr Jorge Helft (specialist and collector), at 7 pm, in Uriarte 2472. And in the new space "Objeto a...", located in Niceto Vega 5181, visitors will be able to attend, at 8 pm, a round table with debate on: "Curator, a controversial figure", with the participation of Graciela Bayala (curator), Maria Laura Rosa (historian), Maximo Sanguinetti (Marca Futuro), Richard Sturgeon (artist), Graciela Taquini (curator). Moderator: Cachorro Agote.

The most outstanding exhibitions in this edition of Gallery Nights are: Marga Steinvasser´s installation "Trapo", at Elsi del Río (Arévalo 1748); the innovative video exhibition at This is not a Gallery (Cabrera 5849); "Entrecrusamientos", the group exhibition of Proyecto Cubo at Pabellon 4 (Uriarte 1332); "Materia Oscura" by Marcelo Grosman and Raul Flores at Ernesto Catena (Honduras 4882); and at Oxiro (Gurruchaga 1358), "El tiempo en cuestión es cuestión de tiempo", photographs by Silvia Finocchietto, Santiago Correa, Dolores de Torres.

The circuit of Gallery Nights Palermo covers the area limited by Arévalo, Av. Córdoba, Medrano and Santa Fe. There is also a free transportation service, identified with the logo of "Arte al día Gallery Nights", with fixed stops, , and a constant route to get to all of the spots in the circuit.

This event is totally free of charge.
