The purpose of the exhibition "Collectibles and Collectors" (Coleccionables y Coleccionistas) is to generate in the public the appreciation of decorative objects which beauty lays both in the harmony of its forms as in its integration with the environment.The National Museum of Decorative Arts will present dancing cards from the collection of Mrs Josefina de Alvear de Errázuriz, former owner of the residence; from the collection Torre Bertucci, English and French perfume dispensers from the XIX century; French and Swiss pocket watches from the XIX century; antique hand held fans; French bronze pendulums from the XVII to the XX centuries; Meissen porcelain monkey figures from the XIX century; Chinese hard rocks; Christ and Good Shepherd ivory carvings made in Goa (India) in the XVII and XVIII centuries; English and French silver sieves; toy ships from the first half of XX century; antique carpentry tools; flippers and pin-balls from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Like in the year 2006, the winning collections of the contest "MNAD Collecting Award 2008" will be presented. There will also be conferences and guided visits held to enrich the exhibition.
