Mozarteum Argentino presents concerts by Orchestre de la Suisse Romande

Mozarteum Argentino, a private non-profit institution promoter of musical culture both in Argentina and South America, presents the second event of its 2009 season, consisting of two concerts by Orchestre de la Suisse Romande at Teatro Coliseo, on May 7 and 8, 2009.
Founded in 1918 by Ernest Ansermet (Vevey, Switzerland), this orchestra, with 112 musicians, has toured all Europe and America and is well-known for its exact rendering of difficult modern music. Since its creation the world famous Orchestre de la Suisse Romande has discovered and supported contemporary composers, premiering their works in Geneva (Benjamin Britten, Claude Debussy, Peter Eötvös, Heinz Holliger, Arthur Honegger, Michael Jarrell, Frank Martin, Darius Milhaud, or Igor Stravinsky). The Orchestra has performed over twenty world premieres since 2000, in collaboration with Radio Suisse Romande.
The OSR has toured the world, performing in the most famous concert halls and at major festivals in Europe, and will be on tour in South America from 4 to 10 May 2009.

Director: Marek Janowski
Marek Janowski has been Artistic Director of the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin since 2002 and in 2005 he was also appointed Musical Director of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva.
Soloist: Jean-Yves Thibaudet (piano)
French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet has played with most of the great orchestras of the world. His repertoire is dedicated to the great romantics, including Debussy and Ravel, and has been accompanied by super-stars Cecilia Bartoli and Dmitri Hvorostovsky in many of his presentations.
