Festival Buenos Aires Jazz 2011

Between November 1st and 6th, 2011, BUENOS AIRES JAZZ.11 presents a program of concerts by national and international artists that will offer the best of jazz in all its forms. The program of BAJ.11 will be divided into different sections:

International Concerts: The opening night at Teatro Coliseo, on Tuesday, November 1st, at 8.30 pm, will feature Kenny Werner and his legendary trio, completed by Johannes Weidenmuller and Ari Hoenig. And on the following evening, Wednesday 2, he will offer a solo piano performance at 7 p.m. at Teatro Regio.
Among the many international musicians coming to perform in Buenos Aires for the first time, some of the standouts are: Catalonian pianist Albert Bover with his trio, Norwegian bassist Arild Andersen with his trio, American trumpeter Charles Tolliver leading his quartet, French pianist Baptiste Trotignon, Brazilian musicians Hamilton de Holanda and Tatiana Parra, Italian trumpeter Paolo Fresu, American drummer and percussionist Marilyn Mazur, and French-born, of Vietnamese descent, guitarist NGuyen Le. All top-notch musicians from the contemporary international jazz scene.

"Cruces" (Crossovers): Meetings between local and international artists at Notorious and Cafe Vinilo: Ari Hoenig, Johannes Weidenmuller, Fredrik Lundin, Krister Jonsson, Oscar Jon Hoogland, Masa Kamaguchi, Bebo Ferra, Matt Pavolka, Paolino Dalla Porta, Dominique Eade, Tommy Smith, Sebastián Cifuentes, Holman Alvarez, Kike Harker, Sylvain del Campo, and local musicians like Ricardo Cavalli, Armando Alonso, Guillermo Romero, Alejandro Demogli, Sergio Gruz, Eloy Michelini, Juan Manuel Bayón, Rodrigo Domínguez, Abel Rogantini, Arturo Puertas, Luciano Ruggieri, Diego Urbano, among others.

Open Air concerts at the terrace of Centro Cultural Recoleta.

Jazzologia, honoring the traditional jazz, with concerts by: Vivan Quartet, Pimienta negra, Gabriel Herrera Cuarteto, María Puga Lareo, Horacio López Trío, Caoba Jazz Band, Guadalupe Raventos, and Alfredo Remus Trío.

Jazz & Cine: screenings of movies and documentaries. 

"El Aula" (The Classrroom): open classes, clinics and workshops.

The Jam Sessions, every night in La Trastienda with Gillespi as a host.

Unplugged: a new section this year, will feature every day unplugged acoustic concerts at the chapel of Centro Cultural Recoleta.

Tickets: for International Concerts, Cruces and El Aula on sale at Casa de la Cultura, Av. De Mayo 575, and and at Teatro 25 de Mayo, Triunvirato 4444, Monday to Friday 11 am to 7 pm. Or at Hard Rock Cafe Recoleta (Av. Pueyrredon & Av. Libertador), Monday to Friday 10am to 8pm, Saturdays 12pm to 8pm.
International Concerts range from $ 20 to $ 60 Pesos. Tickets for the Meetings (Cruces) are $ 30 Pesos. Paid clinics are $ 50 Pesos.
The rest of the activities and concerts are free of charge until reaching the maximum capacity of the venues and don't require advanced tickets
