Festival Buenos Aires Jazz 2012

Between November 21st and 26th, 2012, BUENOS AIRES JAZZ.12 presents a program of concerts by national and international artists that will offer the best of jazz in all its forms. The program of BAJ.12 will be divided into different sections:

International Concerts: The opening night at Usina del Arte, on Tuesday, November 21st, at 8.30 pm, will feature Tom Harrell, one the key composers of modern jazz moderno. The closing concer, at the same venue, will feature the legendary band Banda Mantiqueira, from Brazil.
Other international figures that will be present at the Festival are: Ralph Towner (USA); Marc Ducret (France); David Gilmore (USA); Alain Jean-Marie (France); Kirk Lightsey (USA).
The composer Pierre Bertrand will bring his quintet Caja Negra, with its mixture of jazz, flamenco, and French music; from Barcelona, Ramón Fossati, with David Xirgu and Horacio Fumero. And Agustín Moya from Chile.
John Hollenbeck comes for the first time to play with his quintet and with the Big Band from Conservatorio Manuel de Falla, together with Mark Helias.

"Cruces" (Crossovers): Meetings between local and international artists at Notorious and Cafe Vinilo: Mark Helias, Danny Grisset, Jean Francois Prins, David Gilmore, Agustin Moya, Judy Niemack, Milton Russel, Eric Echampard, Bruno Chevillion, Joel Holmes, Louis Winsberg, and local musicians such as Cirilo Fernández, Francisco Salgado, Juan Pablo Hernández, Alejandro Demogli, Mariano Loiácono, Paula Shocron, Luis Natch, Mariano Sivori, Ernesto Jodos y Sergio Verdinelli, among others.

Open Air concerts at the terrace of Centro Cultural Recoleta and the Amphitheater of Parque Centenario.

Jazzologia, honoring the traditional jazz, with concerts by: Laura Hutton, Helena Cullen, La Porteña Jazz Band, Jazz Gitano ensamble, Jorge Lopez Ruiz cuarteto, Swing Summit: trio Fraga-Motta-Giunta, Johhny's Glazer and La Jorge Anders Jazz Orchestra.

Jazz & Cine: screenings of movies and documentaries.

"El Aula" (The Classrroom): open classes, clinics and workshops.

The Jam Sessions, every night in La Trastienda with Gillespi as a host.

Unplugged: will feature every day unplugged acoustic concerts at the chapel of Centro Cultural Recoleta.

Tickets: for International Concerts, Cruces and El Aula on sale at Casa de la Cultura, Av. De Mayo 575, and at Hard Rock Café, Buenos Aires Design Center, Av. Pueyrredón & Av, Libertador, Monday to Friday 10 am to 8 pm, Saturdays 12pm to 6pm.
International Concerts range from $ 30 to $ 80 Pesos. Tickets for the Meetings (Cruces) are $ 50 Pesos. Paid clinics are $ 100 Pesos.
The rest of the activities and concerts are free of charge until reaching the maximum capacity of the venues and don't require advanced tickets
