On Wednesday, July 9th, 2014, a parade will be held to celebrate Argentina´s Independence Day, and the 120th anniversary of the historical Avenida de Mayo. The ceremony is programmed to start at 11.30 am on Avenida de Mayo and Luis Saenz Peña, with the hoisting of the Flag and the intonation of the National Anthem with the participation of the band of Regimiento de Patricios, followed by the civic-military parade that will cover the avenue from Plaza Moreno to Plaza de Mayo, and the representatives of different foreign communities that will display their typical costumes, music and dance.

The parade will conclude with the participation of traditional folk groups from the province of Buenos Aires mounted on more than 100 horses with their typical attire. On a big stage different soloists, music groups and dancers will enliven the celebrations.

Visitors will also have the chance to see an exhibition of antique buses, cars and motorcycles. The buses will represent the different types of public transportation in the city from 1940 to present. There will also be a Fair offering regional products, food, and crafts from different communities living in the city.

In case of Argentina playing the semi-finals at the World Cup in Brazil, the match will be transmitted live at 5 pm on large screens. After the match the gastronomic shops along Av. de Mayo will offer a Happy Hour with different promotions.

In the evening the beacon located at the top of Palacio Barolo will be switched on, and as closing of the event a group of neighbors will walk along Avenida de Mayo bearing torches in the same way its constructors did the night of its inauguration 120 years ago.

In case of rain the event will be held on Saturday, July 12th.
