Teatro Colon 2016 Season
The prestigious Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires, one of the most important Opera Houses in the world, has announced its program for the 2016 Season, which features, among other great performances, the outstanding presence of Daniel Barenboim and Martha Argerich, that return with the Festival of Music and Reflection, with the East-Western Divan Orchestra and Jonas Kaufmann; Renée Fleming, Lang Lang, Zubin Mehta with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Marcelo Álvarez, Bruno Gelber, Marianela Nuñez, Ludmila Pagliero, Joshua Bell and Herman Cornejo, among many other artists.
This year the Theater is also celebrating the 100th anniversary of birth of Alberto Ginastera, one of the greatest Argentine composers.
The good news of the 2016 season is that it starts on February 14th, with the Summer Festival, that will feature some free, open air performances at Plaza del Vaticano, located next to Teatro Colon, on Cerrito & Viamonte.

2016 SEASON CONCERTS
The Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra (OFBA), directed by Maestro Enrique Arturo Diemecke, will offer a series of concerts throughout the year, performing the complete Tchaikovsky symphonies, and with the participation of outstanding soloists, such as Bruno Gelber, Nelson Goerner, Natasha Binder, Karin Lechner, Sergio Tiempo, Philippe Entremont and Joshua Bell, among others.
The OFBA will also offer a series of free concerts at Usina del Arte in La Boca. Free tickets for these concerts must be picked up Teatro Colon box office one day before the performance.
The Orchestra of Teatro Colón will offer a program of eleven concerts both at the main concert hall of Teatro Colon as well as at Usina del Arte in La Boca.

SYMPHONY OF A THOUSAND - Gustav Mahler
Domingos de Camara - Intérpretes Argentinos (Chamber Sundays): Series of FREE concerts on Sundays at 11 am, by renowned Argentinean chamber groups at the main concert hall of Teatro Colón.
Free tickets must be picked up the previous Friday, 10 am to 8 pm. Only 2 tickets per person will be handed, limited to the theater's capacity.
The 2016 Season will come complete with the program by the CETC (Centro de Experimentacion del Teatro Colón), the program Colón Contemporáneo (contemporary works); ISA (Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón), the Chamber Opera series, and the concerts performed at the Theater by private musical organizations like Nuova Harmonia and Mozarteum Argentino.

Hi! Can I ask a question? Maybe you understand how this works better than me. I want to buy tickets for the already programmed 2016 concerts of Renee Fleming and Kauffman (green Abono). But there is no where on the site to buy them nor can I find a date for when they go on sale. Do you have any idea if they are on sale already and if not how I will find out when they do?
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqueline. They haven´t announced the date when the Green Abono will go on sale. At the theater´s box office they said this Abono will go on sale after February 23rd, but there´s no specific date yet. The Abonos can only be purchased at the box only. Otherwise you´ll have to wait until the individual dates go on sale online, if there are seats left available.
