The 2016 Tango Buenos Aires Festival and Tango Dance World Cup, organized by the Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires, will be held between August 18th and August 31st, 2016.

This new edition features more than 200 shows and free activities including concerts and dance performances, popular "milongas", shows, conferences and clinics, exhibition and sale of products, dance classes in various levels and styles, and the competition for the Tango Dance World Cup, in which the best couples of dancers from Argentina and the world will be participating.

The Great Opening of the Festival will be on Thursday, August 18th at Usina del Arte, with a concert at 8.30 pm by the renowned singers Chico Novarro, Néstor Fabián, Raúl Paiva and Hugo Maciel

Many other concerts will be held at 42 venues during the Festival, including cultural centers, notable bars and theaters, playing tribute to Horacio Salgan, in the 100th anniversary of his birth.

Throughout the World Tango Festival classes of different levels and styles will be given by renowned dancers and instructors from recognized schools.

TANGO DANCE WORLD CUP:
This is the celebration that makes Buenos Aires the mecca for tango dancers around the world. The event rewards the best couples in the Tango de Pista category, which stresses the social dance as a practice rooted in Buenos Aires, and Tango Escenario, which aims to enrich the dance from a choreographic point of view. More than 500 couples from around the world measure their talents in this competition.
The qualifying rounds and semifinals will take place at Usina del Arte. The World Cup culminates in two major Finals, Tango de Pista on Tuesday 30th, and Tango Escenario on Wednesday 31st, at the Luna Park Stadium.

FREE TICKETS FOR SHOWS AND ACTIVITIES:
Admission to all the activities and shows of the Tango Buenos Aires Festival and World Cup is free.
Free tickets for the shows at Usina del Arte, Teatro 25 de Mayo, Espacio Cultural Julián Centeya, Espacio Cultural Carlos Gardel, Espacio Cultural Adán Buenosayres and Teatro Gran Rivadavia, will be given out at the Information Stand on the same day of the show, 2 hours before each performance (2 tickets per person per event), limited to the room capacity.
Tickets for activities held at Museo del Cine must be picked up 1 (one) hour before start time at the desk located in the entrance hall. A maximum of 2 (two) tickets will be available per person for each event until venue capacity is reached.
Tickets for the show María de Buenos Aires, at Teatro Colón, will be given out on Monday 29 August, starting at 12 PM at Teatro Colón. A maximum of 2 (two) tickets will be available per person until venue capacity is reached.
Tickets for the show Infinito tango, by Leonardo Cuello, at Centro Cultural Borges will be given out on Friday 26 August, starting at 4 PM at Usina del Arte. A maximum of 2 (two) tickets will be available per person until venue capacity is reached.
For activities at Notable Bars, no ticket is required. Admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis until venue capacity is reached.
For the Clinics at Sala de Cámara, no advance registration is required. Admission is with tickets that will be given out 1 (one) hour before start time at the Information Stand of Usina del Arte.
For Dance Classes that require advance registration, participants must register as a couple by sending an email to clasestangoba@festivales.gob.ar and show up 30 minutes before start time at the Information Stand in the classes hall of Usina del Arte. Those who were unable to register by email may put themselves on a waiting list at the Information Stand.

Dance World Cup
Admission to the Qualifying Rounds is without ticket and will be on a strict first-come, first-served basis. Admission to the Semifinals is with ticket only. They will be given out 1 (one) hour before start time at the Information Stand of Usina del Arte. A maximum of 2 (two) tickets will be available per person until venue capacity is reached.
Tickets for the Finals of the Dance World Cup that will take place at Lunar Park on August 30th and 31st will be available for pick-up on Monday, August 22nd at 12 pm at Usina del Arte. 2 (two) tickets for each event will be given out per person until reaching the capacity of 10,000 seats.
