The Great Opening of the Festival will be on Thursday, August 10th at Usina del Arte, with a concert at 8.30 pm Osvaldo Piro and his great orchestra "Azul Noche", with guest singers Patricia Barone, Alberto Bianco and Carlos Casado.

On the 25th anniversary of Astor Piazzolla’s death, the Festival will celebrate his work in a variety of styles, and commemorate Raúl Garello with the premiere of a tango dedicated to him. The Festival will also include A Historical Rescue, Women’s Perspectives, recent album debuts, international ensembles and career recognitions; shows for children, films and talks, music and history clinics and an array of more than thirty dance classes, in addition to its usual milonga with a live orchestra and a special exhibition dedicated to Alberto Castillo.

TANGO DANCE WORLD CUP:
This is the celebration that makes Buenos Aires the mecca for tango dancers around the world. The event rewards the best couples in the Tango de Pista category, which stresses the social dance as a practice rooted in Buenos Aires, and Tango Escenario, which aims to enrich the dance from a choreographic point of view. Starting on Monday, August 14th, more than 500 couples from around the world measure their talents in this competition.
The qualifying rounds and semifinals will take place at Usina del Arte. The World Cup culminates in two major Finals: Tango de Pista on Tuesday 22nd, and Tango Escenario on Wednesday 23rd, at the Luna Park Stadium.
