St Patrick's Day Celebration 2019


Every March 17th, the most important day in its calendar, Ireland celebrates its patron saint, Saint Patrick. This special date will be celebrated once again with a big Fair and Street Parade in Buenos Aires on Sunday, March 17th, 2019, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm,  on Avenida de Mayo and Bolivar in downtown Buenos Aires.

The event will start at 12 pm, with the opening of the Celtic and Nordic Fair, with more than 50 stalls offering typical Irish products, crafts and traditional food such as and Colcannon, Boxty and Coddle, among many other specialties.

The traditional Saint Patrick's Day Parade will start at 3:00 pm, with Irish music groups that will be presenting their traditional dances and music. The parade will include the traditional costume contest for "leprechauns" (gnomes) and "fairies" for adults and children. Visitors are encouraged to wear green.

The Marching Bands of the Argentine Army and Patricios Regiment will also participate in this event, in honor of the Irish born Admiral William (Guillermo) Brown, founder of the Argentine Army.

During the day different shows will be presented on the main stage, including traditional folk dances, music and pipes. A band paying tribute to U2 that will perform their most well known songs. And the Irish singer Rebecca Winckworth will sing typical Irish songs together with Argentine musicians.

This event is organized by the Irish - Argentine Association and the Government of the city of Buenos Aires.






The Irish community in Argentina is one of the largest in the world (calculated in 500,000 people). In recent years the celebration of St Patrick’s Day has been extended to most of the Pubs in Buenos Aires and all Argentina. In case of rain the event will be held on March 31st at Plaza Intendente Seeber, Palermo.

Gastronomic Festival of the Foreign Communities - March 2019


A giant Food Court representing more than 40 different foreign communities living in Buenos Aires will be set up on Avenida de Mayo & Bolivar next Saturday, March 16th of 2019, from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The typical dishes of every region will be offered in more than 70 food stands along Avenida de Mayo, as well as crafts and traditional products from every represented country. Different traditional groups will offer their performances along the avenue and on the main stage through the afternoon.

This year more than 30 cooks will present their typical dishes to participate in the third edition of the "Foreign Communities Cooking Challenge", a contest that will consist of three stages and a final round, where a jury made up of renowned chefs will select the winning chef.

After the winner is announced the event will be closed with a music show by Emmanuel Horvilleur.

In case of rain the event will be held on April 6th.

Free Open Air Music Festival next to Teatro Colon



The Association “Teatro Colón Historical Center” presents the fifth edition of Plaza del Vaticano Music Festival, that will be held next to Teatro Colón from Monday, February 4th through Sunday, February 10th, 2019, with free entrance to the public.

The Festival, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires and other private institutions, will consist of 10 projections of high class concerts, operas and ballets, from the best productions worldwide, that will be presented on the large high definition outdoor LED screen that is located next to Teatro Colon (photo). Chairs for free use of the public will be installed, to be occupied on a first come-first served basis.

The complete program consists of operas, ballets and concerts, with performances by great artists like Daniel Barenboim and Martha Argerich, and productions from prestigious companies from all around the world.

Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires will offer a special concert celebrating the End of the Year 2018 on Saturday, December 22nd, starting at 6.00 PM, with a free, open air concert next to the Rose Garden of Buenos Aires, on Avenida del Libertador & Av. Sarmiento.

The Permanent Orchestra of Teatro Colon, under the direction of maestro Enrique Arturo Diemecke, together with the Permanent Choir, with the direction of Miguel Martínez, and outstanding soloists, will offer a fantastic show for the whole family, presenting works by Johann Strauss, Franz Lehár, Giuseppe Verdi, Ludwig van Beethoven, among others.

The show will be open by the Orchestra of the Art Institute of Teatro Colon and the Children's Choir.

Teatro Colon 2019 Season


The prestigious TEATRO COLON OF BUENOS AIRES, one of the most important Opera Houses in the world, has announced its 2019 SEASON PROGRAM.

For the first time the Season will start with a summer program for children called Disney in Concert, on February 22nd, 23rd and 24th, 2019. With musical direction by Enrique Arturo Diemecke in front of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra, the families will enjoy the music from great Disney movies like Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, The Lion King, among others, with the special participation of Disney’s characters live, accompanied by projections, dancers, singers, and other special surprises.

CHAMBER SUNDAYS

Domingos de Camara - Intérpretes Argentinos. A Series of FREE concerts on determined Sundays at 11 am, by renowned Argentine chamber groups at the main concert hall of Teatro Colón.
Free tickets must be picked up the previous Friday, from 9 am to 8 pm. Only 2 tickets per person will be given out, limited to the theater's capacity.

The 2019 Season will come complete with the program Colón Contemporáneo (contemporary works); ISA (Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón) Concerts, a series of performances for kids and the whole family (Colon Para Chicos); the concert series Colon en La Ciudad with concerts at different locations around the city; and the concerts performed at the Theater by private musical organizations like Mozarteum Argentino.

The Night of the Provincial Houses 2018



The Night of the Provincial Houses (“La Noche de las Casas de Provincia“) an yearly event that shows the cultural diversity in Argentina, will take place on Thursday, December 6th, 2018, from 5:00 PM to 11.00 PM.

The "Casas de Provincia" are the representative offices of each province in the city of Buenos Aires, and they will open their doors with free access to the public on this night to present their attractions, festivities, crafts, music, tourist services, food, wines, traditional products, tastings, and much more!

Numerous artists from all around the country will be presenting live music and dance shows at the main stages distributed along the three circuits in which the Casas are organized, according to their location:

San Telmo Fest 2018



The second edition of San Telmo Fest will take place on Saturday, November 10th, from 6.00 PM to 2.00 AM, with a varied offer of cultural activities that characterize this cosmopolitan and bohemian neighborhood.

International Festival Buenos Aires Jazz 2018


Between November 14th and November 19th, 2018, the International Festival BUENOS AIRES JAZZ 2018 (BAJ.18) presents a program of concerts by national and international artists, offering the best of jazz in all its forms.

The opening night at Usina del Arte, on Wednesday, November 14th, at 8.30 pm, will be starred by the legendary British artist Norma Winstone, along with two Italian musicians of proven quality, Glauco Venier (piano) and German Klaus Gesing (soprano sax and bass clarinet).

The closing concert will be held at the same venue on November 19th, at 8.30 pm, with Stefano Di Battista‘s quartet. He is accompanied by Andrea Rea (piano), Daniele Sorrentino (double bass) and Luigi Del Prete (drums). Their live performance promises musical moments of the highest quality and brings this great local celebration of jazz to a proper close.

The program of BAJ.18 will be divided into different sections, among them:

° International Concerts: by Sylvie Courvoisier, David Kikoski, Glauco Venier, Dan Tepfer y Gregory Privat, among others.
° Chamber Jazz Concerts: held at the Chamber Hall of Usina del Arte.
° Open Air concerts: In this edition the Open Air concerts held at the Amphitheater of Parque Centenario. Parque Lezama and Usina del Arte will include the Jazzology series; Malosetti & La Colonia, Luis Salinas, Ligia Piro, Estévez&Magic3, Celebrating Ella & Louis Cuarteto, among others.

12th Ancient Music Festival


San Ignacio de Loyola

San Ignacio de Loyola, the oldest church in Buenos Aires, located in the historic Manzana de las Luces, presents the XII Ancient Music Festival, a program of concerts destined to raising funds for the restoration of the temple built 300 years ago by the Jesuits and declared as a National Historic Monument.

The program will consist of Ancient Music and Latin American Baroque concerts, performed by outstanding groups from Argentina and Bolivia, that will take place every Tuesday between November 6th and December 4th, 2018 at the same Parrish of San Ignacio de Loyola, located on Bolivar 225, San Telmo

Buenos Aires celebrates the Argentine regions




On Saturday, November 3rd, 2018, the Fair of the Argentine Regions will be held on Avenida de Mayo between Bolivar & Piedras, from 12 pm to 9 pm, with the participation of over 100 small producers and the representation of all the provinces from all over the country.

Visitors will find crafts, wines and beers, chocolate, jams, cold meats, diary, yerba mate, olives, among many other national products.

The Fair will also feature a food court offering typical dishes at accessible prices, including empanadas from different provinces, parrilla, ice cream, Andean food, as well as cooking classes to learn to prepare regional dishes.

In addition a varied selection of artists will present music and dance shows, finishing with a Carnaval parade that will showcase the magic, color and music of the regional carnivals.

Free open air concert by Daniel Barenboim and Staatskapelle Berlin Orchestra



The great Argentinian born pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim, in front of the Staatskapelle Berlin Orchestra, will offer a spectacular concert, with free entrance to the public, on Saturday, July 21st, 2018, at 1.30 pm.

The open air concert will take place at Plaza Vaticano, next to Teatro Colón, on Viamonte and Cerrito, with chairs for the public (available on a first come first served basis), standing sector, and a large screen.

The musical program will consist of works by Gioachino Rossini, Claude Debussy and Igor Stravinski.

This concert is part of the Festival Barenboim that is taking place at Teatro Colon and CCK.

The open air concert may be suspended in case of rain.

Fair of the Argentine Regions 2018



On Saturday, April 28th, 2018, the Fair of the Argentine Regions will be held on Avenida de Mayo between Bolivar & Piedras, from 12 pm to 9 pm, with the participation of over 100 small and producers from all over the country.
Visitors will find crafts, wines and beers, chocolate, jams, cold meats, diary, yerba mate, olives, among many other national products.
The Fair will also feature a food court offering typical dishes at accessible prices, including empanadas from different provinces, parrilla, ice cream, Andean food, as well as cooking classes to learn to prepare regional dishes.
In addition a varied selection of artists will present music and dance shows, and a Carnaval parade will showcase the magic, color and music of the regional carnivals.
The event will close with a show by the fun music group Los Autenticos Decadentes.

Gastronomic Festival of the Foreign Communities 2018


NOTICE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED FOR BAD WEATHER FORECAST. NEW DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED.

A giant food court representing more than 40 different foreign communities living in Buenos Aires will be set up on Avenida de Mayo & Bolivar next Saturday, April 7th of 2018, from 12:00 pm to 9.30 pm.

The typical dishes of every region will be offered in 100 food stands along Avenida de Mayo, as well as crafts and traditional products from every represented country. Different traditional groups will offer their performances along the avenue and on the main stage through the afternoon.

This year more than 30 cooks will present their typical dishes to participate in the second "Foreign Communities Cooking Challenge", a contest that will consist of three stages, and a final round on the main stage, where a jury made up of renowned chefs will select the winning chef.

After the winner is announced the event will be closed with a music show by the DJ Maxi Trusso.

In case of rain the event will be held on April 15th.

The Bookstore Night - La Noche de las Librerías 2018


On Saturday, March 10th, 2018, the City of Buenos Aires presents the 11th edition of The Bookstore Night (La Noche de las Librerías), with free activities in over 50 bookstores from 6 pm to 11.00 pm. This traditional event represents the publishing industry and pays tribute to bookstores and booksellers in the City, with activities in their premises, and the traditional festival on Avenida Corrientes.

During the Bookstore Night, the vehicular traffic will be closed and sofas will be installed on Avenida Corrientes from Libertad St up to Junín St, where multiple cultural activities will take place simultaneously in bookstores, bars, theaters and on the streets, including book presentations, workshops, story telling, talks with authors, live music, activities for kids, and more.

The main musical show will be at 10.00 pm on the main stage located on Avenida Corrientes 1100, with the presentation of the renowned actress and singer Elena Roger with the jazz-fusion sextet Escalandrum paying homage to Astor Piazzolla.

Teatro Colon 2018 Season


The prestigious Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires, one of the most important Opera Houses in the world, has announced its program for the 2018 Season, which starts on March 1st with one of the concerts by the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra.

The 2018 season features, among its great performances, the outstanding presence of Daniel Barenboim, Ana Netrebko, Gustavo Dudamel, Juan Diego Florez, Bryan Terfel, Bruno Gelber, among many others.

The ballet program includes performances by Herman Cornejo and Daniil Simkin, first dancers of the ABT; Marianela Núñez, first dancer of the London Royal Ballet); Iñaki Urlezaga, and the return of Julio Bocca this time as revival choreographer.

The Festival Barenboim, in its fifth edition, conducted by the Argentine born Maestro Daniel Barenboim in front of the Staatskapelle Berlin Orchestra, will feature 4 performances of the great Wagner's Opera Tristan und Isolde  and 5 symphony concerts with the Staatskapelle Orchestra at the auditorium of CCK.

The series of Great International Performers will consist of 5 concerts and recitals, with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gustavo Dudamel; the pianist Dubravka Tomšič Srebotnjak; the soprano Anna Netrebko; the bass baritone Bryn Terfel; and tenor Juan Diego Flórez. 

Among the Opera productions, one of the most important this year will be Aida, celebrating the 110th anniversary of the current Opera House that featured Aida as its inaugural Opera.

Domingos de Camara - Intérpretes Argentinos (Chamber Sundays): Series of FREE concerts on determined Sundays at 11 am, by renowned Argentinean chamber groups at the main concert hall of Teatro Colón.
Free tickets must be picked up the previous Friday, 10 am to 8 pm. Only 2 tickets per person will be handed, limited to the theater's capacity.

The 2018 Season will come complete with the program Colón Contemporáneo (contemporary works); ISA (Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón), a series of performances for kids and the whole family (Colon Para Chicos); the concert series at the Golden Hall, and the concerts performed at the Theater by private musical organizations like Mozarteum Argentino.

Free Open Air Music Festival


Il Divo
As the closing of a series of concerts that were held at Teatro Colon, some outstanding artists will offer two free, open air shows on Saturday, March 3rd and Sunday, March 4th of 2018, at the park located on Av. Figueroa Alcorta & Dorrego, Palermo.

The artists that will offer their shows on Saturday are the Argentine DJ Hernan Cattaneo, who will offer a symphonic show with 50 musicians on stage; the vocal group Il Divo, the British artist Rick Wakeman; and the Argentine pianists Horacio Lavandera and Miguel Angel Estrella.

Sunday will be an all Argentine show with Alejandro Lerner, Los Nocheros, and Palito Ortega.

2000 chairs for free use of the public will be installed, to be occupied on a first come-first served basis. Food trucks will offer different gastronomic options.

Chinese New Year Celebration 2018



A special two-day festival celebrating the start of the Year of the Dog will be held on Saturday, February 10th and Sunday, February 11th, 2018, at the park "Plaza Parques Nacionales Argentinos" located on Av. Figueroa Alcorta between Sucre and Echeverria, in the neighborhood of Belgrano.

This is the most important celebration in the Chinese culture, also known as the Spring Festival. The mega event will feature more than 50 gastronomic and cultural stands where visitors will have the chance to taste typical food and purchase Chinese products.

At the main stage dance and music shows will be presented throughout the weekend, including the traditional Dragon Dance and Lion Dance, as well as demonstrations of Oriental martial arts; and a parade showcasing Traditional Chinese costumes. For the fist time the Artistic Group of the province of  Zhejiang will be present with different traditional Chinese performances.

Street Food and Music Festival February 2018



A new edition of the Food and Music Festival "Food Fest BA" will take place on Saturday, February 3rd and Sunday February 4th, 2018 at the central court of La Rural Exhibition Center, on Av. Santa Fe 4201 (Plaza Italia), with free entrance to the public.

This is an open air event offering Street Food and music shows, where visitors have the chance to try different kinds of food from the best Food Trucks in the city, as well as wines, beers and cocktails.

Various emerging artists and music bands will be presenting live music shows throughout the weekend, and an exclusive DJ Truck will liven up the atmosphere of the event. This weekend is dedicated to The Beatles, with the presentation of tribute bands like Interpaul, Estefy Lennon, and The Beagles, among others.

Free Open Air Music Festival next to Teatro Colon


The Association “Teatro Colón Historical Center” presents the fourth Music Festival at Plaza del Vaticano, adjacent to Teatro Colon, that will be held from Saturday January 20th through Sunday February 18th, 2018, always at 8 PM, with free entrance to the public.

The Festival, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires and other private institutions, will consist of 18 projections of high class concerts, operas and ballets, from the best productions worldwide, that will be screened on the large high definition outdoor LED screen that is located next to Teatro Colon (photo). Chairs for free use of the public will be installed, to be occupied on a first come-first served basis.

The complete program consists of operas, ballets and concerts, with performances by great artists like Daniel Barenboim, Placido Domingo, Lang Lang, and productions from prestigious companies from all around the world.
