Buenos Aires Photo 2015


The eleventh edition of Buenos Aires Photo, the most important art fair specialized in Photography in Latin America, will take place at Centro Cultural Recoleta from October 15th through October 18th, 2015

This exhibition brings together the works from more than 20 art galleries from Argentina and different countries.

The works by the finalists of the Buenos Aires Photo Award 2015 will be presented. There will be conferences and book presentations every day during the fair.

The Peruvian born photographer Luz Maria Bedoya will be the guest artist in this year´s edition, and the Argentine George Friedman will be the honored artist.

The works by Matias Kritz will be exhibited simultaneously with Buenos Aires Photo at Palacio de las Artes in Palacio Duhau, Av. Alvear 1661, with free entrance.

Gallery Nights presents a new Gallery Day in La Boca

Gallery Nights, the original circuit for art lovers around art galleries, antique shops, museums and cultural centers, presents this special edition of Gallery Day, that will take place in the neighborhoods of La Boca on Saturday, September 26th, 2015, from 3 pm to 6 pm.

This is a great opportunity to spend a fun afternoon visiting diverse exhibitions, and discovering the talents of emerging artists.

A service of free buses will depart at 2.30 pm from Av. del Liberador and Callao towards the neighborhood of La Boca. From 3 pm to 6 pm a free transportation service will depart every 30 minutes from PROA (Av. Pedro de Mendoza 1929), with fixed stops to get to all of the participating galleries in the circuit.  These transfers are on a first come first served basis and have a limited capacity.

This event is totally free of charge.

Gallery Nights September 2015

Gallery Nights is the original circuit for art lovers around more than 60 art galleries, antique shops, museums and cultural centers, organized by the art magazine Arte al Día once a month, between April and December.

The next edition will be held on Thursday, September 10th, 2015, from 7 pm to 10 pm, in the neighborhoods of Retiro, Barrio Norte and Recoleta in Buenos Aires.

As always, there will be live music and free shows, and guests will be welcomed with a complimentary glass of Chandon champagne. Maps will be provided to the public so they can visit their favorite galleries and exhibitions at their own pace.

The traditional circuit of Gallery Nights covers from Plaza San Martín to Ayacucho and from Tucumán to Av. del Libertador. There is also a free transportation service with fixed stops and a constant route to get to all of the spots in the circuit.

The Palermo-Villa Crespo circuit of Gallery Nights covers the area surrounded by the streets of Dorrego, Av. Santa Fé, Lavalleja and Gascón, with more than 35 art spaces that will open their doors to show the latest works of their artists. 

There is a free transportation service with fixed stops and a constant route to get to all of the spots in the circuit.

This is a great opportunity to spend the weekend visiting diverse exhibitions discovering the talents of emerging artists.

Maori Art and Culture Exhibition




The largest exhibition of Maori art and culture exhibited in America arrives in Buenos Aires on June 10, and will remain at Usina del Arte until July 10, 2015.
The exhibition, which until now has only been seen in Asia and in Chile, features an important representation of Maori art including tattoo artists, dance groups, conferences, live music and more than one hundred objects including wood carvings and pounamu jewelry, green stone, bone, bronze and linen. All the objects that will be exhibited have been created by students and tutors of the New Zealand Maori Arts & Crafts Institute (NZMACI), an organization that seeks to demystify this ancestral culture since 1926, protecting and promoting the arts and culture of this country.
The dance group Kapa Haka will travel to Argentina especially for "Tuku Iho". They are masters of traditional Maori performing arts. The group, composed of 12 Maori artists will perform at various venues in the city of Buenos Aires, from June 10.
There will also be demonstrations of "Ta Moko" or Maori tattoo.The tattoo is considered as a carving technique where an artist will display his work with chisels and pigment on face and body.

arteBA´15 Contemporary Art Fair


arteBA Contemporary Art Fair, that will take place from June 4  to June 7, 2015, is the most popular cultural event in the city of Buenos Aires and the most important one of its kind in Latin America. arteBA is an art exhibition where art galleries display their best artworks, offering the general public the chance to come face to face with truly unique collectors’ pieces. It is also an opportunity for the newer art centers from all over the region to present their younger artists and reveal the very latest trends, which are simply absent from other art fairs. 100 carefully selected galleries from Latin America, North America and Europe will exhibit works by the most outstanding contemporary artists at this great cultural event.

The Fair will be divided into several sections:
  • Main Section: Established galleries chosen by a renowned selection committee.
  • Cabinet: A specific area within the galleries booths in the main section of the fair. In Cabinet, one or more works by a single artist are exhibited. The aim of the section is to show important, unique, or emblematic works by modern and contemporary artists.
  • Dixit Axion: This section will offer works by artists to museums and private collections through their galleries.
  • U-TURN Project Rooms by Mercedes Benz: A curator invites galleries to present a specific project featuring up to three artists and selects each work to be exhibited.
  • Solo Show Zurich: A curator invites six artists and their galleries to participate with individual exhibitions.
  • Barrio Joven Chandon: Section for young Argentine and foreign galleries focused mainly on Latin American artists.
  • Photobooth City: galleries present photographs by historical and contemporary artists.
  • Isla de Ediciones Fundación Proa: sale of individual volumes and collections that provide theoretical support and information on contemporary art.
The OPEN FORUM 2015 will be held with free admission in the fair’s auditorium with conferences by international lecturers.

Gallery Nights is organized by the art magazine Arte al Día, the second Thursday of every month between April and December.

The Palermo circuit of Gallery Nights covers the streets limited by Dorrego, Gascón, Lavalleja, Córdoba and Santa Fé. There is also a free transportation service with fixed stops and a constant route to get to all of the spots in the circuit.

Museum Night 2014 - La Noche de los Museos 2014

The Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires presents the 11th Edition of La Noche de los Museos - Museum Night 2014, that will take place on November 15, 2014, from 8 PM until 3 AM.

Since 2004 one Saturday night the museums of Buenos Aires stay open all night offering different cultural activities, all of them free of charge, in the same way as in other 130 cities around the world.

During this special night visitors will be able to enjoy free guided visits, special exhibitions, as well as conferences, shows, theater performances, dance, screenings, video, multimedia, and diverse concerts of classical music, jazz, tango, folk, and rock, and move around the city on more than 80 bus lines that will offer free rides during the night, by printing this free pass.

Over 180 museums and art spaces will be participating in this edition.

El Greco and the Painting of the Impossible at the Fine Arts Museum


Commemorating the 400th anniversary of the death of El Greco, the National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA) presents the exhibition "El Greco and the Painting of the Impossible", that will be inaugurated on October 28th, 2014.
The star of the exhibition will be the painting "Las lagrimas de San Pedro" (The tears of Saint Peter), from the collection of El Greco Museum in Toledo, Spain.
When in 1936 the National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA) acquired "Jesús en el huerto de los olivos" (‘Jesus in the Garden of Olives’) by Doménico Theotocópuli, "El Greco", it became one of the most relevant works from an ancient master at the Museum. Now, the MNBA joins the international homages dedicated to the artist with this exhibition, centered on three of his oil painting with a religious theme: "Jesus in the Garden of Olives" from the MNBA, "Jesus Bearing the Cross Uphill", from the collection of the National Museum of Decorative Arts (MNAD), and "The tears of Saint Peter", from El Greco Museum in Toledo, specially lent for this occasion.

Buenos Aires Photo 2014

The tenth edition of Buenos Aires Photo will take place at Centro Cultural Recoleta from October 17th through October 20th, 2014. This is the only art fair specialized in Photography in Latin America.

This exhibition brings together 500 photographs by 150 artists from more than 30 art galleries from Argentina and different countries.

The works by the finalists of the Petrobras Buenos Aires Photo Award 2014 will be presented. There will be conferences and book presentations every day during the fair.

The Peruvian born photographer and New York resident Milagros de la Torre will be the guest artist in this year´s edition.

The works by Carlos Gallardo will be exhibited simultaneously with Buenos Aires Photo at Palacio de las Artes in Palacio Duhau, Av. Alvear 1661, with free entrance.

The exceptional art exhibition Meraviglie dalle Marche returns to Buenos Aires


An extraordinary exhibition of paintings from Le Marche region of central Italy on the Adriatic, similar to the one held in 2012, will be exhibited at the National Museum of Decorative Arts in Buenos Aires, from September 20th to November 30th, 2014.

Called "Meraviglie dalle Marche II", or Marvels from the Marche, this exhibition displays a valuable collection of paintings from an Italian region rich in natural beauty and artistic heritage, culturally important for the quality and number of artists who have contributed much to the pictorial art in Italy and the world. Most of the works are leaving Italy for the first time, and come from private collections and Museums in the region.

The paintings span more than 400 years of Italian religious art, with works from the Pre-Renaissance to the the 19th Century by Perugino, Tiziano, Lorenzo Lotto, Guido Reni, Guercino and other lesser known but highly talented artists.

The exhibited works are by artists Andrea da Bologna, Carlo Crivelli, Pietro Alamanno, Perugino, Nicola Filotesio, Lorenzo Lotto, Tiziano, Federico Zuccari, Filippo Bellini, Andrea Lilli, Domenico Tintoretto, Simone De Magistris, Guercino, Federico Barocci, Guido Reni, Claudio Ridolfi, Sassoferrato, Angelo Caroselli, Simone Cantarini, Bernardo Strozzi, Domenico Peruzzini, Ciro Ferri, Alessandro Vitali, Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri, Baciccio, Lissandrino, Luca Giordano, Pier Leone Ghezzi, Corrado Giaquinto, Anton von Maron, Francesco Podesti, Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo.

arteBA´14 Contemporary Art Fair
