Chinese Moon Festival 2017



The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, will be celebrated in Buenos Aires, in the streets of the Chinese Quarter in Belgrano, on Arribeños Street, from Blanco Encalada to Juramento on Saturday, October 7th and Sunday, October 8th of 2017.
The activities will take place between 12:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important holidays in the Chinese calendar, together with the Chinese New Year. Sometimes referred to as the Lantern Festival or Mooncake Festival, traditionally on this day Chinese family members and friends gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon, and celebrate the end of the fall harvesting season.
More than 60 stalls will be placed in the streets that will be converted into a giant food court to offer traditional food and cultural items.
A large stage with lights and sound will be mounted on Arribeños and Olazabal for the public to enjoy a great event on Sunday 8th, that will feature the traditional Dragon and Lion Dance, Oriental Martial Arts, Traditional Dances music shows, among many other activities.

The events may be suspended in case of rain.

Gluten Free Food Fair October 2017



A food fair completely dedicated to gluten free products will be held on Saturday October 7th and Sunday October 8th of 2017 at Barrancas de Belgrano, on Echeverria & 11 de Septiembre, from 11 am to 7 pm.

The Fair will be divided into two sectors:

Market: 40 stalls offering oil, spices, marmalade, jams, infussions, soft drinks, delicatessen, diary, bread, fruits and vegetables, pasta, snacks, nuts, cold cuts, cereals and grains, cookies, juices, preserves, flour, frozen food, soups.

Food court: Stands offering prepared food to go or to enjoy at the communal tables, including sushi, meat, pasta, author dishes, vegetarian options, ethnic food, among many other options. The stalls and food trucks will be run by restaurants and cooks with a vast experience in the elaboration of gluten free food, including: La Arepería de Buenos Aires, Epa La Arepa, Kary’s Burger, The Crepe Factory, TeAdoro García, La Dorita, Pizza Vegana, Ciudad Madre, Anatani Yumy & Gluten Free, Cocelia, Sintaxis, Leofanti Senza Glutine, Granja Iris, Cremolatti, Bon Bouquet, Trixie, Citric, Queso Brulée, Platón & Wok.

In case of rain the event will be rescheduled.

FIBA - International Buenos Aires Theater Festival 2017


In Spite of Wishing and Wanting

Organized by the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires, the International Buenos Aires Theater Festival (Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires -FIBA), will take place between October 5th  and October 21st, 2017.

FIBA takes place every two years, featuring diverse artistic expressions through contemporary theater, dance and musical theater. FIBA offers special free activities such us open talks with artists, workshops and masterclasses, films, and books presentations.

International Productions:
This year´s FIBA international presentations include 19 productions in diverse formats, such as: The Tiger Lillies perform Hamlet, featuring a Danish cast in a Teatro Republique/Osterbro Teater production alongside cult British band The Tiger Lillies; Nathan!? with German director Nicolas Stemann; the adaptation by French director Laurent Berger of 38SM, a co-production between FIBA and Teatro Cervantes, a contemporary adaptation of the 38 works by William Shakespeare through a production that combines theater, performance, video, dance and music; "2666", directed by Julien Gosselin, based on the novel by Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño, the longest theater play (12 hours) premiered in the city; among many others.
As for dance, Portugal's Circolando presents Noite, an intensely physical dialogue between three male dancers and a DJ, and the great Belgian choreographer Win Vanderkeybus presents In Spite of Wishing and Wanting, an organic symbiosis of dance, theater and film..

National Productions:
A total of 46 national productions, including shows presented by institutions like Centro Cultural Recoleta, Complejo Teatral de Buenos Aires, Centro Cultural San Martín, Instituto Nacional del Teatro, Agencia Córdoba Cultura and Teatro Cervantes - Teatro Nacional Argentino.

Organic and Healthy Food Market in Recoleta - September 2017



The main producers of organic and healthy food in Argentina will gather again in a street market in Buenos Aires, on Saturday, September 30th and Sunday, October 1st, 2017, from 10 am to 6 pm, with free access to the public.

Visitors will have the opportunity to taste free samples and buy at promotional prices natural foods and beverages in an area specially located at Plaza Republica Oriental del Uruguay located on Av. del Libertador & Tagle, in Recoleta.

More than 70 gazebos will be installed inside the park, where the participating producers will offer products in the following areas: Oils; Alcoholic drinks (organic wines, beers); Soft drinks and natural juices; Cereals and seeds; Spices; Nuts; Fruits & Vegetables; Farm produce; Delicatessen; Gourmet food; Flour and derivatives; Mushrooms; Infusions; Vegetables; Dairy; Bakery; Jams; edible Flowers; Pasta; Herbs; Snacks, and more.

Italian Festival Al Dente 2017


The fifth edition of the gastronomic, artistic and cultural festival "Al Dente! Día de la Italianidad en Argentina" will be held on Saturday, September 23rd and Sunday, September 24th, 2017, from 12 pm to 7 pm, in the neighborhood of Colegiales, with free access to the public. This year the Festival will be held again on Av. Dorrego and Enrique Martínez, Flea Market, in the neighborhood of Colegiales.

"Al Dente!" is a celebration of the Italian gastronomy, that also features cultural, artistic and musical activities. Communal tables, activities for kids, food trucks with vegan and gluten free options, more than 40 market stalls offering Italian and Argentinian products are some of the attractions of Festival Al Dente!

Several musical shows will be presented all day during the weekend.

Polo: 2017 Tortugas Country Club Open Polo Championship


Tortugas Country Club Open Polo Championship will kick off on Tuesday, September 19th, 2017, with the participation of the six teams with the highest handicap in the world, that will be disputing the Emilio de Anchorena Cup. Regional Products Fair at La Rural


The National Ministry of Agriculture presents the Fair "Placeres Regionales del Campo a tu casa", that will be held on Saturday September 16th and Sunday September 17th, 2017, at La Rural Exhibition Center, from 11 am to 7 pm, with free entrance.

In this Fair small producers and artisans from all over the country will be offering their own produced crafts and food products, such as: Fruits from the Rio Negro Valley, Citrus from the North East, Nuts, Regional Jams, Cheese, Honey, Pork, Cold cuts, Olive Oil, Olives, Natural dressings and sauces, Tea, Yerba Mate, Spices, Wines, Chocolate, alfajores, preserved fruits, and more!

Free screening of La Traviata next to Teatro Colon


Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires celebrates its 160th anniversary with a live transmission of La Traviata that will be screened live on big screen on Sunday, September 17th, 2017, at 5 pm at Plaza del Vaticano, the square next to Teatro Colon (photo), located on Viamonte & Cerrito, with free access to the public.

The old Teatro Colon was inaugurated on April 25th, 1857 with the presentation of La Traviata, the celebrated Opera by Giuseppe Verdi. In this occasion the public will have the chance to watch for free the matinee performance of the Opera that is currently being presented at the Theater - with all sold out dates - in a production by Franco Zeffirelli from the Opera di Roma with musical direction by Evelino Pidò, staging by Stefano Trespidi, and starred by the Albanian singers Ermonela Jaho and Saimir Pirgu.

Chairs for free use of the public will be installed.

Urban Rosh Hashanah 2017



The Jewish non profit organization LimudBA presents a new edition of the popular event "Urban Rosh Hashanah", celebrating the Jewish New Year 5778.  The festivities will take place on Sunday, September 17th, 2017. Visitors will enjoy typical food, talks, activities for kids, and a stage with live music and shows at the park on Av. del Libertador & Austria, Recoleta, from 11 am to 6.30 pm, with free entrance to the public.

Some of the programmed activities are:

° Music shows: by the winners of the contest "Youth musical bands" organized by LimudBA; Ensamble Sefaradi de Buenos Aires; Marina Wilensky; Gaston Said y Los Idishes; Linetzky Klezmer Trio; Lionel Mizrahi;  Orchestra Kef; Salam!
° Projection of films related to the Jewish and Israeli thematic.
° Activities for kids and the whole family, like story telling, board games, art workshop, street performers.
° Cooking workshops.

As every year the event will include a sector with stands selling Jewish dishes like Strudel, knishes, bohios, pleztalej with pastrami, baklava, among many other options.

Ibero-American Gastronomy Fair FIBEGA Buenos Aires 2017


The first edition in Latin America Gastronomy Fair FIBEGA (Feria Iberoamericana de Gastronomia) will take place on September 15th, 16th and 17th of 2017 at La Rural Exhibition Center, as part of the activities for the selection of Buenos Aires as the Ibero-American Capital of Gastronomic Culture 2017. 

This is the first International Fair to unite the gastronomy of the different Ibero-American regions, with tastings, cooking demonstrations, products and drinks from countries like Mexico, Peru, Spain, Uruguay, Guatemala, Brasil, among others. Argentina as the host country will present the gastronomy of its different provinces, with German Martitegui from the renowned restaurant Tegui will be the chef representing the City of Buenos Aires.

The outstanding activities during the Fair are the Ibero-American Congress of Gastronomy and the 2nd Meeting of Ibero-American Chefs.

The Fair will be divided into a Gastronomic Area, where visitors will have the chance to try all kinds of Latin American dishes and drinks, and a Market Area where local producers will offer cheese, spices, coffee, artisan beer, and more. 

A special place will be dedicated to Wines, the Wine Tunnel, where 50 wineries will present 200 labels and special tastings to discover the wines from Spain to the Patagonia, with the outstanding presence of the sommelier Josep Roca, from Celler de Can Roca, selected as the best restaurant in the world (activities with extra cost. Architecture and Interior Design Exhibition Casa FOA 2017


Casa FOA is the most important yearly exhibition in which decorators, architects, designers, and landscape architects, selected for their talent and prestige, showcase the local and international trends in architecture, interior design, and landscaping. This year´s exhibition will be held from September 15th through October 16th 2017, at Luis Maria Campos 1336. 

Casa FOA was born in 1985 as an initiative of Mercedes Malbrán de Campos and a group of ladies with the purpose of raising funds for the Argentine Ophthalmology Foundation "Jorge Malbrán" (FOA). With a growing success, Casa FOA has become one the most important events in the country´s cultural agenda.

The strategic selection of the venues and the careful and profound restoration of the chosen buildings give every edition of Casa FOA an indisputable value for the community. The selected location this year is an apartment building from the 1950´s in Belgrano that represents the eclectic spirit of the time, where 45 designers will showcase the latest trends in interior design.

French Week in Buenos Aires 2017



The 9th French Week in Buenos Aires "Vivi Francia 2017" will take place from Saturday September 16th to Sunday September 24th, 2017, organized by the French-Argentine Commerce and Industry Chamber (CCIFA), and sponsored by the French Embassy and the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires, with a series of activities to enjoy French culture, art, gastronomy, fashion, music and architecture, free and open to all.

Some of the most outstanding scheduled activities are:

VISIT TO THE FRENCH EMBASSY:
Joining the celebration of European Heritage Days (Journées Européennes du Patrimoine), the French Embassy in Argentina will open its doors to the public. This will allow visitors to discover the Palace Ortiz Basualdo, home to the French Embassy since 1939, built by French architect Paul Parter in 1912.
Besides the main entrance and the honor staircase, the public will be invited to visit the reception halls in the first floor, which make the Palace Ortiz Basualdo a significant example of the French influence in the Argentine architecture.


Accessing the second floor, visitors will admire the main dining room, the music room in a Louis XV style with Chinese decoration, the ball room, its mirrors and its painted boards, as well as the XVI century English style winter garden.

Hi Matsuri, the Fire Festival at the Japanese Garden



Notice: Because of bad weather the Festival has been rescheduled to Sunday, September 17th.

On Sunday, September 17th, 2017, the Japanese Garden of Buenos Aires (Av. Figueroa Alcorta and Casares, Palermo) presents the festival "Hi Matsuri - The Fire Ceremony", one of the most important Japanese festivals of the year.

Upon entrance, the public will receive small wooden boards where they can write about those bad feelings or experiences they want to leave behind (the boards will be given out until 4.30 pm or until stock is out).

Through the ceremony of burning the boards, the energy of the fire will make all the negative experiences turn into positive energy to continue on the chosen path, to face new projects or continue those that are already underway.

2.30 pm: Judo demonstration with Juan Carlos Yamamoto
3.30 pm: Dojos Ken Nelson Nakazato
4.30 pm: Japanese Songs by Romina Shimabukuru and Carlos Ueharo, and participative dance by Asociacion Japonesa de Sarmiento.
5.00 pm: Hi Matsuri ceremony. Closing of the Festival, with burning of boards accompanied by Japanese Drums.

Buenos Aires Food Week - September 2017



Buenos Aires Food Week, the bi-annual event in which the best restaurants in the city offer lunch and dinner menus at promotional prices, will be held again from September 11th through September 24th of 2017.

The goal of this Food Week is democratizing access to haute-cuisine, offering the general public the opportunity to discover new restaurants and taste unique dishes at attractive prices.

Each restaurant will offer a fixed three step menu (starter, main course and dessert) with a fixed price of $ 250 Pesos for lunch and $ 410 Pesos for dinner (not including drinks, service charge, or tip) + an optional donation in a sealed envelope to the charity organization Fundación Banco de Alimentos.

The magnificent fields of Buenos Aires Jockey Club, located in the town of San Isidro, North of Buenos Aires, is home of one of the most important polo tournaments in our country. The 53rd Jockey Club Open Championship starts on Friday, September 8th, 2017, with the participation of 4 teams between 25 and 31 goals, and the presence this year of four 10 goal handicap players: Adolfo Cambiaso Jr, David Stirling Jr, Pablo Mac Donough and Juan M. Gluten Free Fair September 2017 - New Dates



Because of the bad weather forecast, the dates of the Gluten Free Fair have been changed to Saturday September 16th and Sunday September 17th of 2017.

The fair, completely dedicated to gluten free products will be held at Plaza República del Perú, on Figueroa Alcorta & Salguero (next to MALBA Museum), from 10 am to 6 pm.

The Fair will be divided into two sectors:

Market: 40 stalls offering oil, spices, marmalade, jams, infussions, soft drinks, delicatessen, diary, bread, fruits and vegetables, pasta, snacks, nuts, cold cuts, cereals and grains, cookies, juices, preserves, flour, frozen food, soups.

Food court: Stands offering prepared food to go or to enjoy at the communal tables, including sushi, meat, pasta, author dishes, vegetarian options, ethnic food, among many other options. The stalls and food trucks will be run by restaurants and cooks with a vast experience in the elaboration of gluten free food, including: La Arepería de Buenos Aires, Epa La Arepa, Kary’s Burger, The Crepe Factory, TeAdoro García, La Dorita, Pizza Vegana, Ciudad Madre, Anatani Yumy & Gluten Free, Cocelia, Sintaxis, Leofanti Senza Glutine, Granja Iris, Cremolatti, Bon Bouquet, Trixie, Citric, Queso Brulée, Platón & Wok.

In case of rain the event will be rescheduled.



Street Food and Music Festival at La Rural - September 2017



A new edition of the Food and Music Festival "Food Fest BA" will take place on Friday 8, Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 of September 2017 at the central court of La Rural Exhibition Center, on Av. Santa Fe 4201 (Plaza Italia), with free entrance to the public.

This is an open air event offering Street Food and music shows, where visitors have the chance to try different kinds of food from the best Food Trucks in the city, as well as wines, beers and cocktails.

Various emerging artists and music bands will be presenting live music shows throughout the weekend, and an exclusive DJ Truck will liven up the atmosphere of the event.

Friday, September 8th: 6 pm to 12 am
Saturday, September 9th: 1 pm to 12 am
Sunday, September 10th: 1 pm to 10 pm

Buenos Aires Photo 2017


BAPhoto 2017

The thirteenth edition of Buenos Aires Photo (BAPhoto), the most important art fair specialized in Photography in Latin America, will take place at La Rural Exhibition Center, from September 8th through September 10th, 2017

This exhibition brings together the works from more than 20 art galleries from Argentina and different countries.

This year’ program is divided into several sections: the Main Section is comprised of a group of pre-selected local and international specialized galleries. Out of Focus is a solo project section designed for the exploration of different procedures, languages, and materials that are available to photography. The Link Project is a space that strengthens curatorial practices in photography in Argentina. Wunderkamer is dedicated to heritage photography. It emphasizes the beginnings of photography in its various technological processes and social practices. It also takes on the challenge of putting value in historical photographic material and documentary.
  
The German photographer Candida Höfer will be the guest artist in this year´s edition, and the Italian-Argentine painter-illustrator-photographer Frans van Riel will be the honored artist.

Gallery Nights September 2017


Hispanic Art Museum Isaac Fernandez Blanco

The next edition of Gallery Nights, the original circuit for art lovers around more than 30 art galleries, antique shops, museums and cultural centers, will be held on Friday, September 1st, 2017, from 6 pm to 9 pm, in the neighborhoods of Retiro, Barrio Norte and Recoleta.

6.:30 pm: Meeting Point: Colección Alvear de Zurbarán (Av. Alvear 1658). Visit to Galería Rubbers, Hispanic Art Museum Isaac Fernández Blanco, Rolf Art (gallery specialized in photography).
7:00 pm: Meeting Point: Hotel Panamericano (Carlos Pellegrini 551). Visit to Fundación Osde, Salas Federales del CFI, Ricardo López Galería de Arte, and Aldo de Sousa Gallery.
7:30 pm: Meeting Point alería Aldo de Sousa (Arroyo 858). Visit to Hoy en el Arte, Autoría, Art Gallery, and Fundación OEI.

The night will close with a musical show at 8 pm on Arroyo & Esmeralda, with the bands winners of the contest "Play at the Gallery Nights".

The traditional circuit of Gallery Nights covers from San Martín to Ayacucho and from Tucumán to Av. del Libertador. Gallery Nights is organized by the art magazine Arte al Día once a month between April and December each year.

This event is totally free of charge.

Gourmet Festival and Horse Racing September 2017



A new edition of the Gourmet Festival “Apetito” will take place on Saturday September 2nd Sunday September 3rd, from 12 pm to 11 pm, at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo (Av. del Libertador & Dorrego).

The best cooks and beer brewers will get together with more than 25 food trucks offering hamburgers, crepes, pulled, pork, bagels, Mexican food, empanadas, fish, vegetarian food, pizzas, smoothies, hot dogs, ice cream, coffee, and more. Furthermore, there will a a beer garden with more than 25 craft beer brewers, and a line up of musical shows each day.

The Gourmet Festival may be suspended in case of rain.

At the same time, on Saturday 2nd, one of the most important events in the horse racing calendar will be taking place, the "Polla de Potrancas" and "Polla de Potrillos" (Poules), which mark the start of the Triple Crown of national turf, both G1 on 1 Mile, in a racing day with events, shows and special activities for the whole family.
