First Buenos Aires Ragtime Festival

"Buenos Aires Ragtime", the first international festival dedicated to this musical genre in the city, will take place from October 31st to November 2nd, 2014, at Centro Cultural Recoleta Junin 1980, with free entrance to the public.
Ragtime is a rhythmic, syncopated musical genre previous to jazz, that was born in Mississippi on the last decade of the XIX century.
Five of the most outstanding musicians from USA will be participating in the festival: Brian Holland, Brian Wright, Danny Coots, Larisa Mygachyov and Brooks Christensen, among numerous prestigious local performers.

The program of activities includes:
  • Piano, tuba, banjo and washboard recitals
  • Dance lesson
  • Dance shows with period costumes
  • Antique car with musicians playing ragtime around Plaza Intendente Alvear and it´s surroundings
  • Informative and didactic talks
Times:
Friday October 31: 6 pm to 9 pm
Saturday November 1: 4 pm to 8 pm
Sunday November 2: 4 pm to 8 pm
