Polo: The 2022 Argentine Open Championship


On Tuesday, November 1st, 2022, The Cathedral of Polo opens its doors to the public again for the most important polo tournament in the world, the 129th Argentine Polo Open Championship (Abierto Argentino de Polo), or simply "El Abierto", with its thrilling Final to be played on Friday, December 2nd.

The Argentine Polo Open, held every year at Campo Argentino de Polo in Palermo (Av. del Libertador & Dorrego), brings together the best polo players in the world, among them the 10-goal players: Adolfo Cambiaso Jr, the brothers Camilo and Bartolomé Castagnola, Pablo Mac Donough, Juan M. Nero, Pablo Pieres, Facundo Pieres and Nicolás Pieres and David Stirling Jr.

The Argentine Open is one of the oldest and most prestigious events in the international polo calendar, as well as one of the main social events in Buenos Aires, with it's famous "after polo" at the polo bars, and musical shows every night.

Tickets are on sale through Ticketek. Tickets may also be available on the same day of each match at the stadium's box office, but the Semifinal and Final dates may get sold out in advance.

Museum Night 2022

The Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires presents the 18th Edition of La Noche de los Museos - Museum Night 2022, the biggest cultural event of the year, that will take place on Saturday, October 22nd, 2022, from 7 PM until 2 AM.

Every year since 2004, one Saturday night the museums of Buenos Aires stay open all night offering different cultural activities, all of them free of charge, in the same way as in other 130 cities around the world. 

Over 230 museums and art spaces all across the city will be participating in this edition. During this special night visitors will be able to enjoy free guided visits, special exhibitions, as well as conferences, shows, theater performances, dance, screenings, video, multimedia, and diverse concerts of classical music, jazz, tango, folk, and rock. 

There will be numerous activities specially organized for kids, like workshops, guided visits, plays, performances, concerts, and much more. 

Buses and Subte lines will offer free rides during the night, presenting the Free Pass that can be downloaded through the city app BOTI.

Polo: 2022 Hurlingham Open Championship

The 129th Hurlingham Club Open Championship, the oldest Polo tournament in the world, kicked off this Tuesday, October 11th, 2022, with the participation of eight of the best worldwide Polo teams and the world's top ranked polo players.

The Hurlingham Club Open is the second jewel of the Argentina "Triple Crown" of Polo, following the Tortugas Open Championship, and preceding the Argentine Open Championship.

The first six dates of the tournament will be played at the Argentine Polo Association in Pilar (AAP), north of Buenos Aires. The zone definitions and the Final will be played at Hurlingham Club.

Polo: Official 2022 Spring Season


The Argentine Polo Association (AAP) has announced the complete Schedule of tournaments in the Official 2022 Spring Polo Season. The program includes the most important Polo tournaments worldwide, which make up the prestigious Triple Crown of Polo: Tortugas Country Club Open; Hurlingham Club Open - the oldest Polo tournament in the world; and the world-class Argentine Open Championship, played every year at the Cathedral of Polo in Palermo.

The Night of Tourism - Second Edition 2022


The second edition of The Night of Tourism (La Noche del Turismo) will be held on Saturday, October 8th, 2022, from 6:30 pm to 12 am, at different spots around the city of Buenos Aires, with free activities and tourist circuits with historical, cultural and social themes. Visitors will have the chance to enjoy discounts and promotions at restaurants and bars, and free access to museums, temples, cultural centers, live music shows and guided tours.

The Tourist Buses will be available for free from 7:30 pm to 12:00 am.

Some emblematic buildings and hotels will open their doors offering visits inside their premises for a reduced number of people. This activity is only available with previous registration through this link (registration starts on October 8th, 10.00 am).

The Cultural/Historic Circuits of the Night of Tourism are free and open for all, and don't require previous registration.

Open House Buenos Aires 2022


The annual Architecture and Urban Planning Festival Open House Buenos Aires, will take place this year on Saturday, October 1st and Sunday, October 2nd, 2022. An open house weekend at those buildings that cause admiration and curiosity. Buenos Aires was the first Latin American city to adopt the Open House concept in 2013.

Open House offers the opportunity to enter for free and explore those private or public places that are normally closed to the general public, with the help of volunteers who generously give their time to accompany and comment on the tours. This year more than 150 buildings selected for their architectural heritage and cultural value and which usually can not be accessed freely will be open to the public.

Only with some exceptions, most of the buildings this year do not require previous registration to visit, but in order to secure entrance it is recommend to arrive as early as possible and as much in advance before the closing time. An ID will be requested without exception in order to enter the buildings on the day of the event.

There are some additional free activities during the weekend, like bike tours, Open Foto, City Walks, and Open Muro.

Buenos Aires French Week 2022


The 14th edition of the French Week in Buenos Aires "Vivi Francia 2022", organized by the French-Argentine Commerce and Industry Chamber (CCIFA), and sponsored by the French Embassy, Alliance Francaise, and the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires, will take place from Saturday, September 17th to Saturday, October 1st, 2022 with a series of activities to enjoy French culture, art, gastronomy, fashion, music and architecture, free and open to all.

Some of the most outstanding scheduled activities are:

Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th, 10 am to 5 pm 
VISIT TO THE FRENCH EMBASSY:
Joining the celebration of European Heritage Days (Journées Européennes du Patrimoine), the French Embassy in Argentina will open its doors to the public. This will allow visitors to discover the Palace Ortiz Basualdo, home to the French Embassy since 1939, built by French architect Paul Pater in 1912.
Besides the main entrance and the honor staircase, the public will be invited to visit the reception halls in the first floor, which make the Palace Ortiz Basualdo a significant example of the French influence in the Argentine architecture.



Accessing the second floor, visitors will admire the main dining room, the music room in a Louis XV style with Chinese decoration, the ball room, its mirrors and its painted boards, as well as the XVI century English style winter garden.
The visit is Free and does not require previous registration. An ID or Passport will be required to enter the Embassy.
Entrance will be on first come - first served basis, subject to capacity (be prepared for long lines). 
The French Embassy is located in Cerrito 1399, Recoleta.

During these two days an authentic French Market will be installed next to the Embassy, on Cerrito & Arroyo, offering typical French specialties, crafts and live French music:

FRENCH MARKET "LE MARCHE":
Visitors will have the chance to taste and purchase French bakeries and different specialties of the French cuisine, such as boeuf bourguignon, blanquette de veau, croque-monsieur, crêpes, soupe à l’oignon, cheese, as well as pastries, tarte aux pommes, financiers, macarons, chocolate, viennoiseries, pithiviers, gateau au chocolat, and much more, in over 20 gastronomic stalls.
The market will be located next to the Embassy, on Cerrito & Arroyo.

GOURMET ROUTE:
Several French restaurants and bakeries in the city will offer special menus and promotional prices during the week.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES:
The Festival will also feature a movie series, art exhibitions, concerts, theater shows, French lessons, special visits to museums, free guided tours, conferences, and more. All the activities are open to the general public, most with free entrance but some of them with a limited capacity and admittance charge.

2022 Tango Buenos Aires Festival and Tango Dance World Cup


The 2022 Tango Buenos Aires Festival and Tango Dance World Cup will be held between September 6th and September 18th, 2022,  featuring more than 200 shows and free activities including concerts and dance performances, popular "milongas", shows, conferences and clinics, exhibition and sale of products, dance classes in various levels and styles, and the competition for the Tango Dance World Cup, with the participation of the best couples of dancers from Argentina and the world. The World Cup Final event of the competition will be a fantastic open air event on a big stage at the Obelisco on Saturday, September 17th, at 4.00 pm.

Many other concerts will be held at different venues during the Festival, including cultural centers, notable bars and theaters. 

Throughout the World Tango Festival classes of different levels and styles will be given by renowned dancers and instructors from recognized schools, all free of charge.

TANGO DANCE WORLD CUP:
This is the celebration that makes Buenos Aires the mecca for tango dancers around the world. The event rewards the best couples in the Tango de Pista category, which stresses the social dance as a practice rooted in Buenos Aires, and Tango Escenario, which aims to enrich the dance from a choreographic point of view. Starting on Monday, August 12th, more than 500 couples from around the world measure their talents in this competition.

The qualifying rounds start on Friday 9th at 9 am at the Auditorium of Usina del Arte. On Friday 9th and Saturday 10th the competition is for Tango de Pista. On Sunday 11th and Monday 12th, Tango Escenario. Previous reservation is required.

On Tuesday 13th, at 6.00 pm, at the Auditorium of Usina del Arte, there will be a Gala with the participation of the National and International champions of the Preliminaries.

 The Semifinals will take place at Usina del Arte. Tango de Pista: Wednesday 14th; Tango Escenario: Thursday 15th; both at 3.00 pm. Free tickets for this event will have to be reserved online in advance (see below).

The World Cup culminates in two major Finals: Tango de Pista on Tuesday 20th, and Tango Escenario on Saturday 17th at 4.00 pm, in a at Obelisco of Buenos Aires (Av. 9 de Julio & Av. Roque Saenz Peña). 

Admission to all the activities and shows of the Tango Buenos Aires Festival and World Cup is free. Some require reservation and registration in advance. Tickets are available 72 hours previous to each event through the Festival's website.

Federal Asado Championship 2022


A new edition of the Federal Asado Championship, dedicated to honor the Argentine identity through its more emblematic food ritual, will take place on Sunday, August 14th, 2022, from 10 am to 6 pm, in a giant open air event with free entrance to the public in downtown Buenos Aires, along Av 9 de Julio from Av. Corrientes to Av. de Mayo.

The 23 Argentine provinces and the Capital city of Buenos Aires will participate in the barbecue ("asado") competition. The participants, that will be evaluated by a panel made up of cooks from best Parrillas of Buenos Aires, will compete in four different categories for the title of best Asador of Argentina.

During the event visitors will be able to enjoy traditional Argentine dishes at the large Food Courts, as well typical national dances, live music shows, and lots of special activities.

The event may be suspended in case of rain.

Exposición Rural 2022: Cattle Breeding and Agriculture Exhibition


The traditional Livestock and Agriculture Exhibition ("La Rural"), held every year in Buenos Aires for over a century, is one of the most important of its kind worldwide, bringing together more than a million visitors among producers, tourists and general public. 

In it's 2022 edition, that will take place from July 21st through July 31st, more than 4500 animal exhibitors and 400 commercial brands will be showing their products: laboratories, leather goods, banks, automotive industries, farm machinery, and providers of services and goods for the agricultural industry.


Visitors will have the opportunity to attend the many activities that take place every day during the Fair, such as:

° Cattle and horse breed exhibitions
° Traditional folk costumes contests

The Festival dedicated to the traditional Argentine gastronomy "Sabores de la Patria" ("The flavors of our Homeland"), will be held at Hipódromo de Palermo on Saturday, July 16th and Sunday, July 17th, 2022, from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with free entrance to the public.

Numerous food stands will be offering a great variety of the most representative typical dishes of our country, such as: locro, carbonada, guiso de lentejas, humita, tamales, pastelitos, empanadas, asado, churros, dulce de leche, among many other local specialties and traditional Argentine products, like yerba mate, dulce de leche, wines, cold cuts, cheese, preserves, spices, honey, alfajores, and much more.

French Market in Recoleta - July 2022


After two years being suspended for the Pandemic, the authentic French Market "Le Marché" returns to Plaza Francia, on Av. Del Libertador between Dr. Luis Agote & Av. Pueyrredón on Saturday, July 16th and Sunday, July 17th, 2022, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

More than 30 gastronomic stalls run by some of the most renowned French chefs and producers in Argentina will be offering their special dishes characteristic of the French cuisine, such as boeuf bourguignon, crêpes, raclette, quiches, onion soup.

Visitors will have the chance to taste and purchase French bakeries and different specialties, like macarons, croissants, éclairs, croque-monsieur, pains au chocolat, crème brûlée, tarte Tatin, Paris-Brest, and much more!


There will be a sector dedicated to French produce, like artisan cheese, cold cuts, bread, mustard, jams, among many other delicacies.



Live French music shows, talks, tastings and activities for kids will be presented during the weekend.

Food and Crafts Fair Caminos y Sabores 2022



A new edition of the traditional food and crafts fair "Caminos y Sabores" (Roads and Flavors), will be held at La Rural Exhibition center between July 7th and July 10th, 2022 showcasing the typical food, tourism and handicrafts from all the regions in Argentina.

Hundreds of producers from all the Argentine provinces will be represented in the exhibition through their native and artisanal foods and crafts. As every year from the first edition in 2005, visitors will have the opportunity to sample and buy: olive oil; home made salamis; cow, sheep and goat cheeses; wines from family owned wineries; homemade jellies; yerba mate and tea; craft beer; dulce de leche; just to mention some of the hundreds of products available.

In addition, every day visitors will have the chance to attend live shows, talks and cooking classes by some of the most renowned Argentine cooks.

There's also a sector where visitors will find a variety of handicrafts made with the typical materials and features of every Argentine region, including wool and leather products, jewelry with rodocrosite stone, and much more.

The Night of Tourism 2022


The first edition of The Night of Tourism (La Noche del Turismo) will be held on Saturday, May 14th, 2022, from 6:30 pm to 12 am, at different spots around the city of Buenos Aires, with free activities and tourist circuits with historical, cultural and social themes. Visitors will have the chance to enjoy discounts and promotions at restaurants and bars of the traditional Buenos Aires rooftops, and free access to museums, temples, cultural centers, live shows and guided tours.

The Tourist Bus will be available for free - with prior registration-, and during that night the City subway will be free for all. 

Some Embassies and emblematic hotels will open their doors offering visits inside their premises for a reduced number of people. This activity is only available with previous registration through this link (registration starts on May 13th, 12 am).

The Cultural/Historic Circuits of the Night of Tourism are free and open for all, and don't require previous registration. The circuits are: 

“Argentine Women” Circuit 
*Neighborhood: Puerto Madero. 
*Start time: 6:45 pm and 7:00 pm 
*Duration: 60 minutes (per function). 
*Meeting point: Monument to Juana Azurduy (in front of the CCK). 
*Finish: Silos (Plazoleta Reina de Holanda). 
Since 1995, it has been decided that the streets of Puerto Madero neighborhood would bear the names of women who, in one way or another, had a great influence in our history. With this tour we decided to honor them. Through different representations, we will be able to approach different historical moments in our country, this time highlighting the roles of women in Argentine history. The circuit ends at the Anne Frank monument, near the famous silos of Puerto Madero, where the musical show by Abril Olivera, a rhythm & blues singer, will take place. 

“Casco Histórico” Circuit 
*Neighborhood: Monserrat. 
*Time: 7:00 pm and 8:10 pm 
*Duration: 50 minutes (per function). 
*Meeting point: Monument to Juan de Garay (next to Casa Rosada) 
*Finish: Avenida de Mayo and Peru. 
This circuit seeks to revive the history of the first square of the city (current Plaza de Mayo), recreating the customs and ideals of the characters who passed through it in the most relevant moments of our country's past. Neighbors and tourists will participate in this tour guided by a group of actors. They will witness the second foundation of Buenos Aires together with Juan de Garay and they will know different moments of the city in the times of the viceroys. In addition, they will discover the life of the colony with its typical characters, witness the dispute between Creoles and Spaniards, and learn about the ideas of the group of patriots who carried out the May Revolution. Residents and tourists are then invited to enjoy a walk along Corrientes Street where they can obtain discounts on gastronomy and cultural activities. The tour ends at the Vatican Square (next to the Colón Theater) with a cumbia show by the youth band "Migrantes". 

"Tango Culture" Circuit 
*Neighborhood: Villa Crespo. 
*Time: 7:00 pm 
*Duration: 90 minutes 
*Meeting point: Gurruchaga 1040 (Plaza Gurruchaga). 
*Finish: Monument to Osvaldo Pugliese. 
The “Cultura Tanguera” circuit begins at Plaza Gurruchaga. There you can see the mural to Paquita Bernardo as the first tango attraction, continuing towards the corner of Gurruchaga and Castillo where the Santa Clara de Asís Parish is located. Advancing along Gurruchaga Street towards Corrientes Avenue, it will be the turn of the spot where Café Izmir was located, to continue the tour through Corrientes where Café San Bernardo is located. Then, crossing the street, you will find Salvador Benedit's house near the Subway Line B station. The tour ends at the Monument to Osvaldo Pugliese, at Luis Maria Drago 438, where a master class and a tango show will take place, in addition to a talk and exhibition by a tango couple. 

“Embassies” Circuit 
*Neighborhood: Palermo Chico. 
*Time: 7:00 pm 
*Duration: 90 minutes 
*Meeting point: Mariscal Ramón Castilla & Rufino de Elizalde (Plaza Grand Bourg) 
*Finish: Floralis Generica (United Nations Square). 
From the meeting point we will advance along Calle Rufino de Elizalde, visiting the Embassy of Belgium, continuing along the same street to Ortiz de Ocampo where half a block away we will find the second embassy corresponding to Greece; we will walk along Ortiz de Ocampo Street until we reach Figueroa Alcorta Street, where we will find the Round House of Mario Palanti, the Embassy of Haiti, the Embassy of Iran, followed by the Embassy of Saudi Arabia and the Embassy of Poland on Alejandro María de Aguado street. We’ll take Mariscal Ramón Castilla Street again, to meet the Embassy of Spain and return to Figueroa Alcorta Street to see the Embassy of Chile, the Embassy of Mexico, the Embassy of Canada and culminate our tour at the Floralis monument, where at 10:30 pm there will be a show by Fabro, a renowned artist from the current trap scene.

2022 Buenos Aires City Tango Dance Championship


The 2022 Buenos Aires City Tango Dance Championship will be held at different "milongas" and cultural centers across the city from Thursday, May 12th through Sunday, May 22nd of  2022.

The competition is on the look out for new winning couples in the categories Tango de Pista, "Milongueros" of the World, Milonga and Waltz, who will qualify to participate in the World Tango Dance Championship that will take place in Buenos Aires in August 2022.

Buenos Aires International Book Fair 2022

 

The 46th edition of Buenos Aires International Book Fair will take place from April 28th through May 16th, 2022 at La Rural Exhibition Center in Palermo. It will feature over 1000 cultural activities, including conferences, round-tables, talks with prestigious national and international intellectuals, book presentations, shows, activities for children and teenagers, events for specialists and publishing professionals, and book sales of literature in all languages.

The Fair is the largest of its kind in the Spanish speaking world. It is considered one of the most important cultural and editorial events in Latin America, and a meeting point for authors, editors, book sellers, distributors, teachers, librarians, scientists, and over 1,200,000 readers from around the world that visit it every year.

One of the main features of the Fair is the participation of internationally renowned authors. The special activities of the Fair this year include: the International Poetry Festival between April 29 and May 1; the Book Reading Marathon on May 2nd; as well as special sectors for kids and young adults; Story-telling; free workshops; musical shows; book signings... among many others.

The guest city at the Fair this year is La Habana, which will offer a number of special activities and the presentation of some of its best authors.

First ever Women's Polo World Cup

The first Women's Polo World Cup in history will be played at Campo Argentino de Polo in Palermo (Av. Libertador & Dorrego) with Free Entrance to the public, between April 9th and April 16th, 2022.
This first edition will feature the participation of six national teams: Argentina, Brazil, United States, England, Ireland and Italy.
According to the Argentine Polo Association (AAP), "an institution that fights for inclusion and equality in sports, it is an honor and a pride that this first tournament is played in the mythical fields of Palermo, where every polo player wants to play at some point".

Nuestros Caballos (Our Horses) Exhibition 2022


The 2022 edition of "Nuestros Caballos" ("Our Horses"), the most important equestrian exhibition in Latin America, will be held at La Rural Exhibition Center from March 31st to April 3rd, 2022 with equestrian and recreational activities for the whole family.
 

Visitors will have the chance to see, in the heart of the city, over 700 horses specially brought from different spots in the country for this exhibition, from the main breeds that are raised in Argentina: Criolla, Árabe, Cuarto de Milla, Polo Argentino, Silla Argentino, Tiro Argentino, Percherón, Petiso, Peruano de Paso, Appaloosa, Paint Horse and Pura Raza Española.




The program of activities of "Nuestros Caballos" will include a variety of attractions, such as:
