Soda Stereo SEP7IMO DIA - No descansaré by Cirque du Soleil is the name of the new production inspired in the history and music of Soda Stereo that will be presented in Buenos Aires between March 9th and May 14th, 2017, at the Luna Park Stadium, in the style the shows based on the life and work of great music icons, like The Beatles Love and Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour & One.
The show is the result of 2 years of planning and hard work between the team of Cirque du Soleil, Pop Art Music and Soda Stereo in a creative process inspired in the history of one of the greatest Argentine groups, that will feature unreleased material and new versions of their most emblematic songs.
Soda Stereo was formed in Buenos Aires in 1982 by the late Gustavo Cerati (voice and guitar), Hector "Zeta" Bosio (bass) and Charly Alberti (drums). It is considered the most influential and significant band in Latin America, with audience attendance and album selling records throughout it´s career. Soda was known for it´s innovative music and massive popularity. They broke up in 1997 and ten years later they reunited for their last, successful tour, with more than one million tickets sold.
The show will be directed by Michel Laprise (the director of Madonna's MDNA Tour and Kurios, the most recent show by Cirque du Soleil), and Chantal Tremblay (director of Love, the fantastic show based on The Beatles).
About the show in the words of Laprise: "SEP7IMO DIA - No Descansaré presents a 15 year old boy trapped in a cage, when he discovers a band that will become his favorite for the rest of his life. When he hears the music of Soda Stereo he sets himself free, living in a planet where time is elastic, as is the time of those who live in love. The show will talk about the emotional power and the intensity of the musical legacy of the band, and will explore the connection with it's fans."
SEP7IMO DIA - No Descansaré will be the fist show by Cirque du Soleil with a standing sector where the audience will have the chance to experience the show in a very special way. This sector will be called Movistar Zoom Zone.
After the premiere in Buenos Aires, the show will visit during 2017 the cities of Córdoba, Argentina; Lima, Peru; Santiago, Chile; Bogotá, Colombia; and DF, Guadalajara & Monterrey, Mexico.
