Festival celebrating the Argentine-Japanese friendship

On Sunday, June 30th, 2019, the Japanese community in Argentina celebrates the friendship between the two countries with an open air Festival showcasing traditional Japanese music, dance, martial arts, and gastronomy.

On this day the Japanese Garden will open its doors with free entrance to the public, from 10 am to 6 pm. During the day different dance groups, singers and music bands representing the Japanese community together with Argentine folk groups will offer their shows on the main stage on Ave Berro between Av. Sarmiento and Casares - which will be closed to the traffic - and inside the Japanese Garden.

Typical Japanese products, crafts, souvenirs and traditional food - like Yakimeshi, Yakisoba, Sushi, Nikuman, Harumaki, Karaage - will be on sale at more than 70 stands.


Program on Stage on Ave. Berro:
11:30 – 11:50 am: Presentation of the Choir from Nichia Gakuin Institute.
12:10 – 12:30 pm: Judo Exhibition. Dojo Jita Kyoei by Sensei Sebastián Dusetti.
12:40 – 1:00 pm: Aikido  Exhibition by Sensei Roberto Palma from Organización Argentina de Aikido.
1:10 – 1:50 pm: Karate-dō and kobudō exhibition by Sensei Rodolfo Geraldes from Dojos Ken -Villa Martelli.
2:10 – 2:30 pm: Japanese Dance and songs by Asociación Japonesa Burzaco.
2:40 – 3:00 pm: Taiko Show by Mukaito Taiko.
3:10 – 4:00 pm: Argentine Folk and Tango Show by Ballet Zapukay.
4:10 – 4:50 pm:  Dance, song and drums show by Futaba Daiko from Asociación Japonesa Sarmiento
5:00 – 5:20 pm: Closing of the event. “Eisa” taiko show by Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko.

This Festival is organized by the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, the Argentine-Japanese Cultural Foundation, and sponsored by the Embassy of Japan in Argentina and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The event will be suspended in case of rain.
