The 2024 Buenos Aires Carnival (“Carnaval Porteño 2024”) will take place at different neighborhoods every weekend, from Saturday, February 3rd until Sunday, February 18th, and on Carnaval Holidays, Monday, February 12th and Tuesday, February 13th, with the participation of more than 100 "murgas" (carnival bands) and over one thousand dancers, drummers and percussionists.

Murgas and carnival are the artistic expressions of the marginal neighborhoods, their songs and urban folk customs. The lyrics of these songs are called "criticas", and combine the social denunciation with humor and dancing. What identifies the "murga porteña" from others are their costumes (frock coat, gloves, top hat, and stick), the drums with cymbals, and the various traditional rhythms used to differentiate every neighborhood.

The closing of the events will be on Monday, February 13th, with a big parade along Avenida de Mayo, between Bolivar and Av. 9 de Julio, from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM (to be confirmed).

The Carnaval parades will be held on different streets, parks and cultural centers / clubs, all with free entrance to the public, but with limited capacity. Some of the locations around the city where to watch the parades with easier access for tourists are:

Avenida Boedo between San Juan & Independencia. Feb. 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18.
Avenida Triunvirato, between Monroe & Av. Olazábal. Feb 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18.
Avenida García del Río, between Freire & Zapiola. Feb 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18.
Avenida Scalabrini Ortiz, between Av. Corrientes & Juan Ramírez de Velazco. Feb 10, 11, 12, 13.

 Parks and clubs:
Anfiteatro Parque Lezama, Brasil & Balcarce (San Telmo). Feb 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 24, 25.
Plaza Unidad Latinoamericana, Acuña De Figueroa & Costa Rica (Palermo). Feb 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 24, 25.
Polideportivo Colegiales - Freire & Concepción Arenal. Feb 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 24, 25.

Dates and times:
Saturdays: 8:00 pm to 2:00 am
Sundays: 8:00 pm to 12:00 am
Monday, February 12:  8:00 pm to 2:00 am
Tuesday, February 13:  8:00 pm to 12:00 am

All the events are free of charge, and may be canceled in case of rain.
