Puma Urban Art 2013 - Street Art Exhibition



Puma Urban Art 2013 will be the meeting point for the best national and international urban artists. An original event, dedicated to contemporary art and the new trends on street art around the world, that will take place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 of May, 2013, at Centro Cultural Recoleta.

This sixth edition of the Festival will feature the presence of international artists, like Tristan Eaton and Jimbo Phillips, and national artists Ramiro Smith Estrada, Romeo, Emanuel Sosa,Consuelo Vidal, Lucas Varela (comics), Kustom Brothers, Feno Artworks, La Chancha y los Veinte, Rock n’ Ride, Falu Carolei and Poleta (pin-ups girls art).

Exhibitions of national and international urban art works; panel talks; national and international music bands, live painting; conferences, documentaries, are some of the activities programmed for the event.

Horse Racing: Gran Premio Republica Argentina 2013



The "Gran Premio Republica Argentina" (GI), one of the most important classics of the year, will take place on Labor Day, Wednesday, May 1st, 2013, at Hipodromo Argentino de Palermo, Av. Libertador & Dorrego.

This outstanding 2000-meter race gathers the best 3 years old and older pure thoroughbred horses of the national and foreign equestrian activity.

The Great Prize "Gran Premio Republica Argentina - Japan Racing Association Cup" will be the center of a spectacular journey that will start at 1:00 pm. Other five big prizes (GI) are included in the day's schedule: Great International Prize of the Americas; Breeders' Prize; Great International Prize of Buenos Aires City; Great Prize Jorge de Atucha; and the Great Prize Montevideo.

This fantastic day for the whole family will be closed with a music show by popular Argentine artist Vicentico, at 9pm.

Polo: Nations Cup 2013


The Nations Cup 2013 (Copa de las Naciones 2013), organized by the Argentine Polo Association, will take place on Saturday, April 27th, 2013 at the Campo Argentino de Polo in Palermo (Av. Libertador y Dorrego).

This unique tournament is an important new addition to the national and international polo calendar.

This year the participating teams are the national selection of Argentina against Rest of the World, with a maximum handicap of 28 goals for each team. The Argentine team will be made up by two 10 handicap players, brothers Facundo and Gonzalo Pieres.

Argentina: Fernando Rivera 1, Diego Cavanagh 7, Gonzalo Pieres Jr 10 and Facundo Pieres 10. Total: 28.
Rest of the World: Pascual Sáinz de Vicuña 6, Juan M. Zavaleta Jr 7, Jaime García Huidobro 8 and Luke Tomlinson 7. Total: 28. Subsitute: Ollie Cudmore 5.

The events of the day start at 1:00 pm, with a match between two junior teams. The main match will kick off at 3:00 pm.

39th Buenos Aires International Book Fair



The Buenos Aires International Book Fair is the largest of its kind in the Spanish speaking world. It is considered one of the most important cultural and editorial events in Latin America, and a meeting point for authors, editors, book sellers, distributors, teachers, librarians, scientists, and over 1,200,000 readers from around the world.
The Fair will take place from April 25th to May 13th, 2013, occupying the "Azul", "Verde", "Amarillo", "Rojo", "Ocre", "Blanco", and Nº 9 pavilions of La Rural exhibition complex, and Palacio Frers. As every year, it will feature conferences, round-tables, talks with prestigious national and international intellectuals, book presentations, shows, activities for children and teenagers, events for specialists and publishing professionals, and book sales of literature in all languages.

One of the outstanding features of the Fair is the participation of internationally renowned authors. Some of the intellectuals that have confirmed their presence this year are: Stefanno Benni (Italy), Leonardo Boff (Brazil), Javier Cercas (Spain), Nobel Prize winner John Coetzee (South Africa), Christophe Dejours (France), Walter Dresel (Uruguay), Mathias Enard (France), Laura Esquivel (Mexico), Miguel Gomes (Venezuela), Claudia Grey (USA), Jesús Jiménez Domínguez (Spain), Han Kang (South Korea), John Katzenbach (USA), Sarah Lark (Germany), Rosa Montero (Spain), Arturo Perez Reverte (Spain), Vladimir Sorokin (Russia), Jean-Philippe Toussaint (France), among others.

For the first time this year there will be a guest city at the Fair, Amsterdam, with the presentation of its best authors at the space called "Café Amsterdam", among them: Maarten Asscher, Gerbrand Bakker, Arnon Grunberg, Herman Koch, Cees Nooteboom, Jan van Mersbergen, Wouter van Reek and Anne Vegter, as well as an exhibition dedicated to Van Gogh.

On Saturday, April 27th, the fair will join the celebrations of "The Day of the City", with special activities, games, raffles, book signings, and music shows. On that day the Book Fair will remain open until 1 am, with free entrance after 9.00 pm.
