Saint Patrick's Day will be celebrated once again in Buenos Aires with a big Fair and Street Parade on Saturday, March 18th, 2023 on Avenida de Mayo between Bolivar & Piedras in downtown Buenos Aires.

The traditional Saint Patrick's Day Parade, organized by the Irish - Argentine Association,  will start at 12:00 pm, when the representatives of the Irish groups residing in Argentina will march towards the large stage. Visitors are encouraged to wear green to accompany the parade.

The Marching Bands of the Argentine Army and Buenos Aires Tartan Army will also participate in this event, in honor of the Irish born Admiral William (Guillermo) Brown, founder of the Argentine Army.

More than 50 stalls will be offering typical Irish products, books, crafts and traditional food such as and Colcannon, Boxty and Coddle, among many other specialties.

During the day different shows will be presented on the main stage, including traditional folk dances, music and pipes. Several Irish artists will be present together with Argentine musicians, finalizing at 7:00 pm.

In case of rain the event will be rescheduled.

The Irish community in Argentina is one of the largest in the world (calculated in 500,000 people). In recent years the celebration of St Patrick’s Day has been extended to most of the Irish Pubs in Buenos Aires and all Argentina.

Argentina entry requirements for international tourists - Update

International tourists entering Argentina must present a valid passport, which must have a validity of at least six months from the date of entry into Argentina. Argentina uses a digital entry system and no longer stamps physical passports upon entry or exit for the majority of travelers.
Citizens of MERCOSUR member countries and associated states (Brazil, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador and Colombia) may also enter Argentina with a valid national ID.
Citizens from over 120 countries, including the US, Canada, the UK, the EU, Australia, and New Zealand, do not require a tourist visa for stays up to 90 days. However, there are a hundred countries that do require a visa. You can check which tourists must apply for a visa to travel to Argentina for tourism, all the requirements and procedures it in this article.
If you are traveling to Argentina with children and teenagers under 18 years of age, note that each minor must have their own valid passport. Besides, if traveling with one parent only or a third party, a notarized permission from both parents or legal guardian is required.
Argentina does not require any mandatory vaccines for entry. A yellow fever vaccine is only recommended if you plan to visit rural or jungle destinations in the north of the country, like Iguazu Falls.
Although it has been announced that since May 2025 all travelers must have mandatory health insurance to enter Argentina, this measure is still not being enforced at Immigration. Even so, carrying a comprehensive policy is strongly advised.
Additionally, border officials may request your itinerary, lodging confirmation, return flight, and proof of funds upon arrival. Please note that meeting these criteria does not ensure entry, as final admission depends entirely on Argentine immigration officers.
If you plan to rent a car in Argentina, you don't need an International Driver's licence, just a valid licence from your country of origin.
This information may be subject to change. It is always advisable to check the latest information on the Argentine Embassy or Consulate in your country before traveling.
