The special activities this year include: a Book Reading Marathon; the 5th International Poetry Festival; a Story-telling meeting; free courses and workshops. The Fair will also be one of the venues of the Second Biennial Kafka Borges / Buenos Aires, Prague, among other activities.
One of the outstanding features of the Fair is the participation of internationally renowned authors. Some of the intellectuals that have confirmed their presence this year are: Italian writer Alessandro Baricco, the Spanish poet Antonio Gamoneda, Cervantes Prize winner 2006, the Colombian writer Fernando Vallejo, author of "La Virgen de los sicarios", the narrator and Spanish essayist Enrique Vila-Matas, the American novelist John Katzenbach; politics specialists Chantal Mouffe and Ernesto Laclau, the French historian and epistemologist, François Dosse, the writer, poet and journalist Manuel Rivas Spanish, among others.
On Saturday, May 1st, the fair will join the celebrations of "The Day of the City", with a free, open air show, from 5.30 pm. On a stage located on Av. Sarmiento and Av. Santa Fe, the renowned artists Caetano Veloso, Sandra Mihanovich, and Tania Libertad will offer a great show.
After the show, the Book Fair will remain open until 1 am, celebrating "The night of the city at the fair", with free entrance after 9.00 pm, and more musical shows and extra activities inside the Fair.
