Maori Art and Culture Exhibition
The largest exhibition of Maori art and culture exhibited in America arrives in Buenos Aires on June 10, and will remain at Usina del Arte until July 10, 2015.
The exhibition, which until now has only been seen in Asia and in Chile, features an important representation of Maori art including tattoo artists, dance groups, conferences, live music and more than one hundred objects including wood carvings and pounamu jewelry, green stone, bone, bronze and linen. All the objects that will be exhibited have been created by students and tutors of the New Zealand Maori Arts & Crafts Institute (NZMACI), an organization that seeks to demystify this ancestral culture since 1926, protecting and promoting the arts and culture of this country.
The dance group Kapa Haka will travel to Argentina especially for "Tuku Iho". They are masters of traditional Maori performing arts. The group, composed of 12 Maori artists will perform at various venues in the city of Buenos Aires, from June 10.
