On Sunday, September 27th, 2015, the Government of the City of Buenos Aires celebrates Immigrants Day with an open air Festival at the park surrounding the Planetarium Galileo Galilei on Av. Sarmiento & Figueroa Alcorta,
Groups representing the different communities that reside in the city of Buenos Aires will offer their typical dances, gastronomy and culture, in an event for the whole family.
The celebrations will start at 11.00 am.
Dance and music shows by artists from 60 communities will be presented throughout the day on two large stages .
There will be stands offering typical crafts, regional products, and traditional food and drinks, like tropical smoothies, arepas, shawarma, feijoada, ceviche, crêpes, lehmeyún, tacos, pignolata, knishes and more typical dishes from all the communities.
The closing of the Festival, around 6.00 pm, will be with a fun and entertaining show by the group Orquesta Big Band UPLA, a jazz band that will come specially from Chile for the closing of this event.
The Festival will be suspended in case of rain.
In the same evening, starting at 10 pm, the Planetarium organizes a special event with free access to the public to observe the Total Supermoon Lunar Eclipse, with several telescopes, a giant screen, and music.
On September 27/28 the Moon will be closest to the Earth, or at its perigee, turning into a "Supermoon", making this an even more fascinating spectacle. Total eclipses of Super Full Moons are rare. A Supermoon eclipse will not happen again for another 18 years.
