The Scottish and the Irish communities of Argentina will be honored for the first time in a joint  event organized by the City of Buenos Aires, celebrating their history, gastronomy and traditions with music, dance, crafts, food and typical products, on Saturday, March 10th 2018.

The event will start at 12 pm, with the opening of the Celtic and Nordic Fair on Avenida de Mayo and Bolivar, with more than 50 stalls offering typical products, information, crafts and traditional food from both countries, such as Haggis, Shortbread, Scotch Broth, Scottish candy from Scotland; and Colcannon, Boxty and Coddle from Ireland, among many other specialties.

The traditional Saint Patrick's Parade will start at 3 pm, celebrating the 10th consecutive year in Buenos Aires. The Irish community will invite the Scottish community to participate in the parade.

During the day different shows will be presented on the main stage, including traditional folk and Highland Scottish dancing, music and pipes.

The Irish community in Argentina is one of the largest in the world (calculated in 500,000 people). In recent years the celebration of St Patrick’s day has been extended to most of the pubs in Buenos Aires. Click here for a complete program of activities at different pubs throughout the week.

In case of rain the event will be reprogrammed for Saturday, March 17th.
