Buenos Aires International Book Fair 2019
The 45th edition of Buenos Aires International Book Fair will take place from April 25th through May 14th, 2019 at La Rural Exhibition Center in Palermo. It will feature over 1000 cultural activities, including conferences, round-tables, talks with prestigious national and international intellectuals, book presentations, shows, activities for children and teenagers, events for specialists and publishing professionals, and book sales of literature in all languages.
The Fair is the largest of its kind in the Spanish speaking world. It is considered one of the most important cultural and editorial events in Latin America, and a meeting point for authors, editors, book sellers, distributors, teachers, librarians, scientists, and over 1,200,000 readers from around the world that visit it every year.
One of the main features of the Fair is the participation of internationally renowned authors. Some of the outstanding intellectuals that have confirmed their presence this year are: Arturo Pérez-Reverte, Julia Navarro, Rosa Montero, Santiago Posteguillo, Gael Faye, Sandro Veronelli, Carlos Fonseca, Anselm Grun, Sergio RamÃrez, Bryce Echenique, Gioconda Belli, Laurence Debray (daughter of Regis Debray), Jul (draftsman of Lucky Luke since 2016), Victoria Schwab, Mackenzi Lee, Sara Búho, among many others.
The special activities of the Fair this year include: the International Poetry Festival between April 26 and April 28; the Book Reading Marathon on May 6th; as well as special sectors for kids and young adults; Story-telling; free workshops; musical shows; book signings... among many others.
The guest city at the Fair this year is Barcelona (Spain), which will offer a number of special activities and the presentation of some of its best authors.
"The Night of the Fair" will be celebrated on Saturday, April 27th from 8.00 pm with a free open air concert by Catalan artist Silvia Pérez Cruz, with a musical show at the outdoor court.
