V All Star Polo Match - Park Tower Cup (V Partido de las Estrellas)

On Sunday, November 9, 2008, at 4 PM, the 5th edition of the All Star Polo Match (Partido de las Estrellas - Copa Park Tower) will be played at the main course of San Isidro Jockey Club. As every year, the purpose of this charity match is to raise funds for the children´s home Nuestra Señora del Pilar. The best Argentine players will be present for this important event.

The participating teams this year are Jaeger-Le Couture and Anaflex (Bago), and for every goal scored during the match Jaeger Le Couture will contribute with 500 dollars, trying to reach a record fund raising.

The players that have confirmed their presence are: Adolfo Cambiaso, Facundo Pieres, Marcos Heguy, Bautista Heguy, Gonzalo Pieres (Jr), Bartolomé Castagnola, Lucas Monteverde, Eduardo Novillo Astrada, Eduardo Heguy, Pepe Heguy and Horacito Heguy.

Charity auction of Argentine wines in aid of Make-A-Wish foundation

Make-A-Wish Argentina and Catena Zapata Winery announce their Second Great Wines' Auction. Twenty-one lots of specially selected, exclusive Argentine wines, including a bottle of 1997 Catena Zapata Estiva Reservada, and a vertical collection of Saint Felicien Cabernet Sauvignon from 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979, among others, will be auctioned in aid of Make-A-wish foundation next November 10, 2008, at 7 pm in Buenos Aires Duhau - Palacio Park Hyatt Hotel (Avenida Alvear 1661). All the funds raised in the auction will be destined to make come true the dreams of children affected by life-threatening illnesses.

The main objective of Make-A-Wish Foundation is to make reality the dreams of terminally ill children. A dream come true may be all a child needs to get over his pain, bringing a moment of happiness and hope.

Thanks to the funds raised on the First Great Wines Auction in 2007, Make-A-Wish foundation and Catena Zapata Winery were able to make come true the dreams of 100 seriously ill children. Palacio Duhau Park Hyatt, auctioneer Rodrigo Rueda, and Christie's also make their contribution to this event.

Concert by the winners of Youth Biennial Contest 2007/2008

The winners of the IX Youth Biennial Contest 2007/2008, organized by Shell Argentina and Festivales Musicales de Buenos Aires, the non-profit music association, will offer a concert on Wednesday, October 29, 2008. The program will include classical and contemporary pieces, performed by the winners of the first prizes in the categories of singing, piano, and chamber music, from the Contest held in 2007.
The Youth Biennial Contest is organized since 1991 to promote the artistic talents of the new generations. Every two years, after the selection, semifinals and finals, the winners of every category offer a series of concerts around different cities in the country. The concert in Buenos Aires, that closes the tour, will include performances by baritone Gustavo Zahnstecher, pianists Javier Albornoz and Pablo Estigarribia, and chamber groups: Saxophones' Quartet 4MIL, and the duo of saxophone and piano composed by Nicolás Ahumada and Gisele Tobares. The program includes works by Beethoven, Chopin, Schubert, Strauss, Debussy, Iturralde, Budini and Piazzolla, among others.
These artists were awarded, along with the winners of the second prizes, by a prestigious jury composed of three international experts: Annelise Skovmand (Singing), Jean –Paul Sevilla (Piano), Michael Hartenbeg (Chamber Music).

Native Crafts´ Fair at Museo José Hernández

At the 7th Native People´s Craft and Cultural Fair and Exhibition (VII Feria y Exposición Artesanal y Cultural de los Pueblos Originarios), organized by Fundación Redes Solidarias, indigenous artisans from different Argentine regions, Cusco, and the Peruvian Amazonia, will offer their handicrafted products, as well as an opportunity to know about their culture and customs.
At the Fair visitors will also be able to enjoy a varied program of activities, such as: tastings of traditional foods, music shows, dance, workshops, lectures, screenings, and a drwaing contest for children.
