Free cultural activities during Spring in Buenos Aires

The Ministry of Culture of the city of Buenos Aires invites the public to participate in the over 250 free cultural and artistic activities of the program "Primavera Buenos Aires" (Buenos Aires Spring), that will be held between October 5 and December 13, 2008, including a concert by the worldwide famous Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra at 9 de Julio Avenue, on November 22.
For 11 weekends, parks, squares, and open air spaces in the city will be the setting of varied activities for adults and children, all of them free of charge, such as musical shows, tango, theater, puppets, story telling, magic shows, film screenings, poetry, etc.
There will also be a program of recitals at Parque Roca, urban music at the Greek Amphitheater in Puerto Madero, tango in Mataderos, and the tour of Orquesta de Tango and the City´s Symphonic Band around the different neighborhoods of Buenos Aires.

2008 BMW Golf Cup International

The World Final of the largest tournament series for amateur golfers in the world comes to Argentina. 141 excellent amateur golfers from 49 different countries will tee off at one of the most famous golf clubs in the country: the Jockey Club. The competitors have qualified from over 1000 tournaments around the world.
The World Final has previously been held in Australia, Mexico, Portugal, Thailand, South Africa and Spain, amongst others.
One of the best golfers in Argentina will make a guest appearance as the highlight of this year's BMW Golf Cup International: Andrés Romero, one of the top 40 golfers in 2008.

Ladies Polo: Princess Maxima Cup



On Friday, December 5 2008, a new edition of the Princess Maxima Ladies Polo Cup will take place at Hurlingham Club of Buenos Aires.
Organized by the French Ladies Polo Association (LPA), the Cup Princess Maxima gets together some of the best female Polo players in the world. This also a charity event in aid of Fraternidad de Ayuda al Nino, an organization endorsed by Princess Maxima of the Netherlands.
The tournament will start at 4 PM, and the final will be at 5:30 PM. At 6:30 PM prizes will be awarded, and at 7:30 PM the event will be closed with a cocktail.

Casa FOA 2008

Casa FOA, the most important yearly exhibition where decorators, architects, designers, and landscapers showcase the local and international trends in architecture, interior design, and landscaping, celebrates its 25th anniversary at Puerto de Frutos de Tigre.
The renovation project aimed to maintain the image of the port, adding contemporary architectural elements.
Casa FOA was born in 1985 as an initiave of Mercedes Malbrán de Campos and a group of ladies wit the purpose of raising funds for the Argentine Oftalmologic Foundation "Jorge Malbrán" (FOA). With a growing success, Casa FOA has become one the most important events in the country´s cultural agenda.
The strategic selection of the venues and the careful and profound restauration of the chosen building give every edition of Casa FOA an indisputable value for the community, making it possible to associate its name not only to Argentine design but also to the preservation of buildings of great historic and cultural value, like: Casa de la Moneda (1995), Hotel de Inmigrantes (2000), Monasterio de Santa Catalina (2001), Casa del Patio de la Reconquista (2003), Hotel Avenida de Mayo (1991), Puerto Madero Dock 5 (1993), Palacio Alcorta (1994), Tattersal de Palermo (1998) Apostadero Naval (2000), Terrazas de Buenos Aires (2002), Tribuna II Palermo (2004), among others.
