Wines and Wineries Fair: Vinos y Bodegas Cosecha 2010



Vinos y Bodegas, Cosecha 2010 (Wines and Wineries, 2010 Edition), will take place from September 22nd to 25th, 2010, at La Rural Exhibition Center. The most important Fair for the Wine Industry in Latin America will offer visitors the opportunity to enjoy the most renowned wine labels from traditional and boutique wineries in Argentina.
So far nearly 70 wineries have confirmed their presence in the 5000 m2 Pavilion where the event will take place.
A new feature this year is the Wine Bar, where visitors can sample high end wines from the wineries participating in the fair. In addition, at the Gourmet Area, with 8 renowned restaurants of Buenos Aires, will offer dishes to be paired with wines present in the Fair.
Visitors will also be able to stroll through Paseo de las Olivas, a space to know the progress that our country has made in the production of olive oil. Also present will be all wine schools, with different proposals to form increasingly informed consumers.
Cooking shows will be presented to show the preparation of dishes and advice the visitors about the best pairings between food and wine. In addition it will also be possible to enjoy outdoor spaces, which will create different atmospheres for sharing a glass of wine with friends Again this year, the Wine Store will be the space for those wishing to buy wine labels.
For the past years Argentina has been positioned in the international wine market among the five main wine producers worldwide, after France, Italy, Spain, and United States.

Mikhail Baryshnikov presents Three solos and a duet in Buenos Aires


One of the greatest dancers of all times, Mikhail Baryshnikov, comes to Buenos Aires in October to offer his latest show that has been presented with great success in cities across the U.S. and Europe.

This contemporary dance show: "Three solos and a duet", is composed of four pieces by prominent choreographers: two of the solos performed by Mikhail Baryshnikov: "Valse-Fantasie", by Alexei Ratmansky, and "Years Later", by Benjamin Millepied; and two pas de deux, 'Solo for Two' and 'Place', both signed by the choreographer Mats Ek, and which the legendary Russian artist performs with Spanish dancer Ana Laguna. In fact 'Place' is a piece that Ek created especially for these two great artists.

French Embassy opens its doors to the public celebrating European Heritage Day


Joining the celebration of European Heritage Days (Journées européennes du patrimoine), the French Embassy in Argentina will open its doors to the public on Sunday, September 19th, 2010, from 12 noon to 6 pm. This will allow visitors to discover the Palace Ortiz Basualdo, home to the French Embassy since 1939, built by French architect Paul Parter in 1912.
Besides the main entrance and the honor staircase, the public will be invited to visit the reception halls in the first floor, which make the Palace Ortiz Basualdo a significant example of the French influence in the Argentine architecture.
Accessing the second floor, visitors will admire the main dining room, the music room in a Louis XV style with Chinese decoration, the ball room, its mirrors and its painted boards, as well as the XVI century English style winter garden.
The French Embassy is located in Cerrito 1399, Recoleta.
An ID is required to enter the Embassy (Passport or DNI). No pictures will be allowed inside the residence.

Casa FOA 2010



Casa FOA is the most important yearly exhibition where decorators, architects, designers, and landscapers, selected for their talent and prestige, showcase the local and international trends in architecture, interior design, and landscaping. It will take place this year at "Casa FOA La Defensa", Defensa 269, from October 1st. Defensa Street connects the most ancient neighborhoods in Buenos Aires (Monserrat, San Telmo, and Barracas).
The exhibit will feature 40 architectural spaces that will make up the 2500 square meters of a renovated three-story old building.
Casa FOA was born in 1985 as an initiative of Mercedes Malbrán de Campos and a group of ladies with the purpose of raising funds for the Argentine Ophthalmology Foundation "Jorge Malbrán" (FOA). With a growing success, Casa FOA has become one the most important events in the country´s cultural agenda.
The strategic selection of the venues and the careful and profound restoration of the chosen buildings give every edition of Casa FOA an indisputable value for the community, making it possible to associate its name not only to Argentine design but also to the preservation of buildings of great historic and cultural value, like: Casa de la Moneda (1995), Hotel de Inmigrantes (2000), Monasterio de Santa Catalina (2001), Casa del Patio de la Reconquista (2003), Hotel Avenida de Mayo (1991), Puerto Madero Dock 5 (1993), Palacio Alcorta (1994), Tattersal de Palermo (1998) Apostadero Naval (2000), Terrazas de Buenos Aires (2002), Tribuna II Palermo (2004), Puerto de Frutos de Tigre (2008), among others.
