In the year of the 160th anniversary of birth of Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires presents this fantastic retrospective of 200 works by the great Dutch artist, digitally restored and in real size, reproduced in innovative formats.
"Van Gogh, My Dream Exhibition", opening on July 12th, 2013 at Usina del Arte in La Boca, highlights 200 of the painterʼs most important works, seven 3D animations and many extras. The exhibition opens up the work of one of the worldʼs most famous painters in a completely new way.
Van Gogh, My Dream Exhibition is the first exhibition to show such a significant part of the work of Van Gogh chronologically and in life size. The work of Van Gogh has been digitally restored and recoloured with the latest technologies. The production of the 3D animations is done with innovative stereoscopy.
By bringing the colours back the exhibition shows better than before the way Van Gogh must have envisioned his painting.
The works are displayed with quotes from the letters of Van Gogh, about his intentions for his work and the dream he had in mind. This brings the visitors close to the mind of Van Gogh and allows them to experience his work in an authentic way.
Part of the retrospective are seven 3D animations. By bringing well-known paintings in new dimensions, visitors are challenged to have a fresh look at the paintings. Suggested movements come to life, new layers and details become visible. In doing so Van Gogh, My Dream Exhibition invites visitors to take a look in the artistic mind of Vincent van Gogh.
