Paleontological roadshow Titans of Ischigualasto arrives in Buenos Aires

The exhibition, that will open on Tuesday, July 27th, 2010, at the Museum of Natural Sciences Bernardino Rivadavia, is the largest display of dinosaurs in South America, and the only one in the world that focuses on the first dinosaurs that roamed the Earth. This is because the exhibit is based on the animals found in the province of San Juan, Argentina, where the most ancient specimens in the planet where dug out. The public will be able to see for the first time the planet's oldest dinosaurs, and the animals with which they had to compete to become kings of the world, including giant crocodiles.

Titans of Ischigualasto covers more than 1,500 square meters, and contains four scenarios of up to 18 meters wide with recreations of the prehistoric habitat of the Triassic. It contains 29 sculptures of dinosaurs of different sizes represented in fights with giant crocodile-like reptiles and mammals. There are also eight skeletons, including a 21 meters long one. The entire exhibit is accompanied by a sound setting, theatrical lighting and multimedia reference materials.

The exhibition is the result of more than 20 years of scientific research in Ischigualasto fossil site located in San Juan province, considered as the Cradle of Dinosaur by the world's paleontological scientific community.

The exhibition, funded by the Government of the Province of San Juan, required an investment of over three million dollars, has the support of CONICET, and started a few days ago an international tour which took place on July 9th at the Mori Art Center in Tokyo, Japan.

These are large sheets portraing individual scenes that reveal characters subject to the deformations characteristic of the artist.
